More Timing Cover Removal Qs
Apologies if this is getting old but I'm preparing myself to tackle the TC guide replacement job in my garage which means TC cover removal. I'm getting all of the my reading done and parts gathered.
Q1: Oil Pan.
(a) In order for the TC cover to be removed the removal of two hidden bolts is necessary which also requires the removal of the oil pan ... Correct?
(b) In order to access the hidden bolts both the upper and lower oil pan segments must be removed ... Correct?
Q2: Gaskets.
(a) The TC cover gasket is solely the appropriate RTV sealant applied per the FSM ... Correct?
(b) A hard gasket (meaning one pre-made from a gasket material and which can be purchased) is available and needed for the lower oil pan reinstall ... Correct?
(c) The gasket needed for the upper oil pan to block interface is two (front and rear) half moon rubber inserts and the appropriate RTV sealant ... Correct?
Q3: Others.
Aside from the chain tensioner gasket (hard gasket) and those discussed above, have I failed to see any other gaskets or gasketing that needs to happen?

Q1: A: Yes, remove the LOWER oil pan(black part with squares on it) and remove the two bolts closest to the TC cover. (would be wise to drain the oil first. and also have fresh oil and filter for when you're done. lol)
Q1: B: Just the lower.
Q2: A: Just RTV, yes. (gray is oem, nissan dealers use red, I use black.)
Q2: B: Lower pan is only RTV per FSM.
Q3: C: For upper oil pan, yes, RTV around the edge and on the ends of the half moon seals per FSM. but you're not removing that, so it's not necessary.
tensioner gasket is reusable.

That is correct. However you will have to wedge the timing cover in/out as one of the half moon seals against the timing cover.
^^oops. I forgot about that. that half moon seal would need to be replaced. nissan part# 11121-31U00. on second thought I would replace the crank shaft seal as well. nissan part# 13510-31U00
+1 to this. When I tackled this job coming up on 3 years ago, I just redid the upper oil pan seal with new half moon seals and crack seal. Every oil leak had stopped and the oil pan is practically rusting..
