Heated passenger seats

I have a buddy that just purchased a 2014. It was supposed to have heated front seats. When he got the car from the dealer (the traded another dealer for what he wanted) it says it has the premium package and he has the heated and cooled driver seat but just the blanked off switch for the passenger side.
Does that mean that there is no heater or wiring for a heater to the passenger seat? Do they option them that way?

The premium package should have the climate controlled seat for the driver and heated seat for the passenger. See if heated front passenger seat is listed on the Monroney sticker. It should be.

It is clearly listed in the brochure.

There should be three switches. A rotary for the drivers cc seat, a toggle for the rear sun shade and a toggle for the passenger heated seat.

Nissan has been having issues with their heated seats. Maybe instead of fixing the seat the dealer just decided to blank out the switch.

The FSM does not show an exploded version of the passenger seat with the electric heat. WTF?
It shows the electrical diagram but I was looking for a diagram of the wiring harness. Tried to look at mine but just cant see anthing without taking the seat out of the car.

Are there any wires that enter the seat back from the bottom if the seat does not have heater? I can't think of any that would be there. I see one corregated harness and two with the soft black sleeve. Can anyone id these?

EDIT: I can't attach the picture without deleting some old attachements, and cant seem to get to them to delete them!

If you really want to check the wiring you would go to connector B308. FSM page SE-40. It is a white connector mounted on the front of the seat. You would have to disconnect the battery remove the four bolts holding the seat down and tip the seat back to get at it.

The three pin connector actually going to the carbon fiber thread that heats the seat is B304. FSM page SE-39. It is located at the seat back.

I would just take a look to make sure these connectors are present and not try and take anything apart.

I believe all premium models should have the heated passengers seat. I would push the dealer and Nissan corporate to make this right.

What are you trying to accomplish? Do you plan to wire the switch in yourself? Or are you trying to prove to the dealer that the car should have a switch for the seat? If you are trying to do the later there are easier ways to accomplish that.

The car should definitely have a heated passenger seat. Go to the dealer and get this resolved immediately. I wouldn't accept some jerry-rigged solution; I would demand a new car equipped as I had been sold... but that's just me. On second thought, maybe a jerry-rigged deal is better than the factory installed feature (as long as it works and it warranted). There have been too many heated seat issues on all Nissan models.

I was trying to help him (from long distance) confirm that the wiring and the heater are there. didnt want to rip mine apart to tell him what to look for.

He took it into the dealer today for them to figure it out. He bought it from one dealer on a transfer from another dealer to get what he wanted, then figured out the switch was missing. Hopefully the dealer he bought it through will get it corrected.

I actually have the 2009 version of the FSM, and it is different. That might be part of why I coudnt find it.

Update

It was missing the switch and a sub harness. How does that happen?!

Dealer is fixing it for him.

Maybe someone removed it because the seat did not heat properly. We will find out.

That's good that the dealer is making it right. That doesn't seem to be the norm with many dealers.

In case there may be even a sliver of doubt in anyone's mind, ALL 7th gen Maximas (2009 -2014) with either the COLD package, SPORT package or PREMIUM package DEFINITELY are supposed to come with a heated front passenger seat.
