Recovering Lost Horsepowers??
Recovering Lost Horsepowers??
They say your car loses a ton of power over the years, and some members have reported 210 HP on their stock vq35 motors which is a loss of almost 50hp in 12 years.
As I am about to do all of my 100k+ maintenance such as timing belt and plugs and wires, I am Calling on you VQ35 experts to tell me what else I should do. Lately I have been feeling my car chugging when I mash the gas, and am wondering if that's injector issue.
Also, when I go from speeds north of 60mph and slow down for something like a stop light, my car will just die and I will lose power steering and stuff. I can put it in neutral and restart the car while rolling, but still this is dangerous that this keeps happening while decelerating.
Keep in mind that I have 115k miles and a manual tranny.
Thanks in advance for the help, gentleman

CPS sensor will cause the same stalling issue when the engine is running and you slow down for a stop. Check to see if you have any pending engine codes, I have had this issue of the car stalling while in motion and found the issue was my Bank 2 CPS sensor, once replaced I have had no further issue.

Members reporting 210hp are usually measuring whp not the 255 bhp. However, if you want to find this lost hp you speak of then the possibilities are endless. Your fuel delivery system is probably less than perfect after a decade. You could replace fuel filter, injectors, even coils. Your car probably just needs a maf and call it a day tho. Premium gas only too.
So first off, you don't have a timing belt. It is a chain and does not need replacing. I wouldn't replace wires either, just plugs. It also sounds like your maf is bad. My car does the same thing.

And we don't have wires either, coil packs. With that said, my car runs strong as the day I got it, actually even stronger.
mine could likely use a fuel filter replaced (just turned 185k) but all ive ever done was actually replaced MAF (mine died), new plugs, air filter, reg oil changes and premium fuel since i bought it. Runs like a champ.
good luck!
good luck!
