Hey guys,

I went to fill up gas last night and upon waking up the following morning I inspected the undercarriage and noticed this cable dangling below the oil pan. What is the cable? Is it an easy fix? I have pics. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

After reading the FSM I determined that this is the Oil Pressure Switch. Is there a way to attach the switch back or can i leave it dangling as is?

 

I'm surprised you have no oil lights on your dashboard...

 

yep, thats your oil pressure sensor alright. you should be able to re-attach that no problem.

 

You should be able to see a near by socket for the harness to plug into.

 

That doesn't look my my Maxima. What car is it?

 

Mine has came unplugged a couple times, plastic is broke around the plug so it doesn't hold well. Looks the same as mine, 2001 max. I've got a new one just haven't replaced it yet.

Replaced with oem and no more oil leak. As the part was installed I contemplated on putting a zip tie around the rubber gasket attached to the harness or some kind of adhesive paste, but after installing I examined the harness and noticed the gasket was tightly placed. I applied dielectric grease to the metal connector on the switch and thread sealer on the thread portion.
