OK back to the basics

My brother is going to take his driver's test and he is worried on how to parallel park. His question was if he has to use hand over hand u know like turn the wheel stop, turn the wheel stop, when he is backing up. u know like that or if he can just use 1 hand. we live in new jersey and i can't remember what i did when i took my test?

its just always better to use two hands when ever driving. that should be the way that you drive two hands on th wheel.

he might as well turn the wheel with both hands on the wheel, just incase. Its not that much harder than putting one hand on wheel & one hand behind teh passanger seat.

In NJ...they give u enough space to parallel park an 18-wheeler. I took my test on the course at Wayne DMV. I dont know how your DMV does it. He should be fine. just remember to signal way before stops. and to look both ways and double check before turning. They like that stuff. :-)

i must have had the easiest driving test ever... only consisted of the following: switch lane to the left, switch lane to the right, switch lane to the left, turn right here, stop at the curb, reverse... drive back to the dmv, good job. didn't have to do a 3 point turn, u turn, or parallel park (i know how to do those btw...).

I remember when I did my driving test, I used both hands to turn the steering wheel while parallel parking. The key is to remain calm, signal way early, and better to go very slow than risk breaking the speed limit (which I think is an automatic fail).

Don't go too slow either, u can fail that way too. i know this from experience.. tell him to stay calm and not act too cocky and he should be fine.
