Bombed it out three times but they come back, is the heater core the issue?

You dirty ****, how the **** you got roaches in the car??? Of all the things i have seen on this site. I bet you the roaches are the managing force in all your transmissions operations. In fact just leave the roaches alone. If you evict them they might take your driver seat with them.

Those are stink bugs not roaches which would be much worse but none the less still pretty nasty. If you plan to keep the car talk to a local pest control company and see what they'd charge to treat it then get it detailed real good.

Everyone realize that they are harping over George's post and it doesn't have anything to do with the op's post other than being pics of bugs?

Didn't even realize the op and the photo weren't the same post lol good eye. If it's roaches hit the car with Jewish lightning and get a new one. Imagine one drops on your face at Highway speed.

What makes you think there is a link between a heater core and an insect invasion. Heater core usually easy to diagnose. Wet floorboards, loss of coolant, sweet smell etc.

Because of the wet carpet I assumed it's a perfect place for bugs to breathe and create. I never had them in my car till the water leak under the passenger side dash.

I bombed it 3 times and nothing works.

You sure that isn't a hole in the floor and water is splashing up into the carpet from underneath like on 2002 to 2005 altima? Does it smell like coolant? Back to original problem remove the carpeting and replace it to get rid of eggs. Also remove and clean the plastic trim moldings and if you can the center console and dash board. All it takes is 1 female to fill the whole car again. I'd even replace the headliner. Ask your insurance company if infestation is covered maybe

Once it looks nice and clean sell it on Craigslist lol

Fakie was right. Everyone's pointing to it being George's problem when it's Scott's lol. Anyway check to find the source of your leak. If you have a sunroof check there aswell as the seal at the a pillar and around the windshield, plastic cowl where the wiper arms are and see if it's sealed at the windshield and check heater core if there's coolant. Im sure it'll be one of those four. If your keeping the car after the leak is found and fixed. Take the seats and center console out and remove the carpet and see if there is any holes then clean the carpet and get rid of all that nastyness on your floor pan. Looks like you definitely have your work cut out for you. Goodluck!

A) George does have problems and they are not all car related.

B) If Scott never removed the carpet, I can believe that the insect bombs wouldn't work. If they are under the carpet, airborne chemicals won't penetrate. Remove the carpet and dry it out before mold and mildew starts growing. When you remove the carpet, washing/cleaning the carpet is excellent advice.

So I can remove and reinstall the same carpet? The drivers side is pretty beat up but that's how I bought the car, will post pics after work but it seems I'm better off getting new carpet all together.

It's a 2002 with 205k so it's gonna need some work.

Also, what's the cheapest method for ditching the precats? thinking straight pipe or something of that matter, don't want to spend that much on the car.

This weekend I'm gonna remove the seats and pull up the carpet, I'm guessing lots of mildred and other crap is gonna be under it, probably gonna have to clean the whole underneath of the carpet with some strong chemicals...

Maybe you can find a junkyard car with a carpet that is in better shape than yours.

A y-pipe from Warpspeed will not eliminate the pre-cats. I don't know if other brands are the same. You might want to consider a set of headers that will replace the stock exhaust manifolds and exhaust parts up to the main cat. But you may not consider this option cheap.

A pair of cheap headers will work but cheap header rust and smell like crap, I just want the cheapest option to getting rid of the precats. I hear precats are pretty costly and I don't want to spend that on my older car.

Well, in all fairness, with everything Georgie Porgie has brought to the table already, it was a reasonable mistake.

My guess is that they were "brought in" from the previous owner and bred in the car, eating whatever crumbs fell on the floor and such. A scenario that comes to mind would be some friends go on a road trip, one person lives in a crappy roachy apartment and brings some stowaways in their luggage. During the drive they escape and populate the vehicle behind the scenes over the course of a few years.

Believe it or not as long as your carpets not ripped or torn you'll be suprised how well it can clean up. Get yourself some powdered tide and mix with warm water and some oxy clean. Then get a scrub brush and put in a little labour. Just lay it out on your deck or garage floor and scrub away. Then get a power washer if you have one and rinse it real well. Repeat the process if necessary and hang it to air dry on a nice warm day. In the meantime you can put your seats back in i drove with my carpet out all winter and i already had cleaned and dried it so it was ready to go back in and now that the weather is getting nicer and winter is over i just cleaned up the floor pan after removing the seats and center console again then put the carpet and seats back in. Either label your trim pieces or remember where they go but it's pretty much like lego everything has it's place and im sure you'll be fine with it. Again Goodluck!

Most if not all detailers will not remove your seats to take the carpet out. They don't want to be liable if any seat bolts are stripped or not tightened or torqued properly.

okay, my carpet is ripped on the driver side though so I probably need to change it.

About the precats, I want to remove them, what's the cheapest method without buying the precats? testpipe? my mechanic wants me to go straight pipe with resignator

If your really set on removing the cats which where im from is not legal but any how cut em off and weld in a piece of pipe or get new pipe ran from front to back. Get an exhaust shop with a good mandrel bender to copy your stock pipe minus the cats.
