Saying goodbye to the fellow geners for now(good possibility forever)

I have come to the decision that i am parting my beloved 98 GLE out for what its gonna cost to fix im gonna buy another vehicle(hopefully another max) but i doubt i will find as nice as a 4th gen i had ,so i may end up with a 5th gener or later...i wanna thank all who have given opinions and advice to me on maxes...i was hoping to drive it for 5 yrs, god knows it was in good enough shape to last that easy...so i will be starting to take off what people want in the next week or so(now that i can walk again)...thanks again all..
for starters black leather is 99% mint..if anyone wants to make an offer on all the interior..even the original mats are 90% new, maybe nicer..
everything is oem nissan parts coils etc cuz nothing has had to be changed ..ever..112k...new 02 sensors just put on ..brand new ks sensor as well oem nissan also!...but i wont keep this post going on about parts , i know this isnt the place for part outs..just wanted to give members a jump on it..everything is available..gotta make some bucks to help with the new ride!

heres a link with pics when i got it 8 months ago or so

Sorry to hear about your loss. Care to share what happened? Do you have pictures of the car today?

I was caught daydreaming staring at a red light..wondering why it was red for so long, then when it turned green i took a left without considering the person coming towards me my fault!!!
no pics still at my causins yard but i will take pics of it before i start ripping it apart for people, in case someone wants to make an offer on the whole thing...
gonna be a few days or so...

If I was still in the "tri-state" area, I would buy the whole car. Last summer my daughter turned left on a green light and did not make it through an intersection when my I30 got t-boned on the passenger side door that severely damaged the area below the c-pillar between the door and the wheel opening. I got the damage area pulled out but it needs that section cutout and replaced with a full paint job to be right again. The car is still being driven, after I replaced a bent rear axle and the passenger side doors.

I guess there is no chance you can replace some body panels to keep her running?

it was hit in front of the pass side front wheel...but unfotunately its not just slap a new front fender on it...someone could definately fix it themselves if they do body work...i found someone in mass with a parts car same color cheap too i dont do body work tho..but its quite alot of labor...im mad at myself cuz even the rad support was done nicely on it...the more i think about it the more pisst i get at myself!

Well im sure if you get a later gen max or another 4th gen we'll hear from you again. Don't beat yourself up too much. Unfortunately accidents happen. The main thing is that you learn from your mistakes and that your o.k. Im sure you'll be much more cautious at the lights waiting to make a left next time after an experience like that.

well, after weeks of looking for a new 4th gen...ive decided to fix my max.
all the max's ive seen i didnt find one that i felt comfortable with...i figured by the time i found one i thought was maintained well, i may as well keep mine...and we all know in new england i probably wouldnt find one that didnt need a radiator support put in...plus even though my car was kept up nicely i still do all maintenance when i buy a car (trans fluid,oil,plugs,filters,02s etc.) i figured it may be cheaper to just keep what i have...at least i know how good it runs ...plus none of the cars ive seen has interior in the shape i have....

and of course, not enough can be said about the support i have here on max.org...that helped me decide to stay with a 4th gen...
for all the people on here who wanted to see pics, i will post before and after pics of the work in the next few days!

good news to hear man, and I know your situation too... I have a 96 white pearl GLE and the paint is just alive since he garaged it... leather hardly touched, senior owner drove it 131k miles now on it... and those kind of maxima's are hard to come by, somtimes I even go on craigslist to look at maxima's around where I am, the past 2 yr... I probably only saw 2-4 good maxima's with 120k-140k mileage range in quite in good condition where I live... I just tell how lucky I am,

never seen a maxima nearly in the condition I bought it though. Just had small minor damage on lower driver quarter panel, but Can be fixed .. has no other damages on body, and im fixing that at the moment.. But I just tell myself, there's worse damage I've seen. But overall for its age.. Never ever seen a maxima nearly the condition I bought it.

Yea man, good choice.

We bought our Max last year with 59k on the clock. It now has 66k. I know when the time comes, I'll probably end up fixing it, whatever it may be. It's a solid car, with a solid platform. I'll probably keep this car as a DD for years and years.
