Full Speaker Replacement w/bose adapter - anything special?

I found a great thread which talks about replacement speakers and a head unit that would work great here: http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...questions.html

My question: I've already replaced my bose head unit (and bought the adapter a few years ago) and I'm using the existing bose speakers. Of course given it's nearly 20 years old nearly all of them are blown.

Do I simply need to purchase some 4 OHM speakers and plug them in? Or am I going to run into issues given the bose speakers are 1 OHM?

I'm just confused as to if I need to purchase a different kind of cable adapter for my head unit to use the existing speaker wire.

And are the kicker DS65 still great speakers? Or are people recommending anything new these days?

Thanks in advance!

Since you currently do not have the Bose head unit, you will need to remove the line adapter you installed so that you could use the Bose speakers. But the Nissan wires are too small to run a regular, 4 ohm speaker system. You will want to run new wires to the replacement speakers.

Don't know about which speakers you should get. I've never researched that.

Good to know thanks so much! Is it trivial to run new wires myself (I'm decently handy, have no brakes, always change my own oil, replaced the head unit)? And any reco on which wires to purchase for 4OHM speakers?

You can use existing wiring just ignore the thicker speaker wiring as those were from the amp. I got kicker cs675 from crutchfield and I highly recommend as an upgrade to Bose i upgraded mine last week.
