A friend of mine has an '89 auto and it has a problem where when shifting from Park to Drive, it seems to get stuck in Neutral unless you go past drive and then back up into drive. Has anyone ever experienced this or have any ideas?
THanks in advance.

Yep......

Its the tranny shifter bushing...its real cheap like 10 bucks. I forget where it is intalled(under the shifter or on top of the tranny) but that fixes it.

The bushing is on top of the tranny, and easy to get to from under the hood. If the bushing is OK, then the shift linkage has to be adjusted from under the car, by the shift lever.
