K&N Air Filter

Has anyone purchased a K&N Air Filter for their 2002 Maxima. K&N claims a 10-15% bump in horsepower. Is this true?? Has anyone noticed a difference??

Err...what kind of intake are you talking about? Stock? The K&N filter will help you a little compared to the stock filter, but I think a 10-15% HP increase might be a bit exaggerated. The TYPE of intake you have will make a much bigger difference than just changing the brand of filter.

Its stock. How much more power would I get If I modified the Intake? Would this screw up my warranty??

The panel filter (Drop-in filter) will only give you 1-2hp tops (if even).

You are better off with a cone intake (HAI).

Talk to DMBMaxima88 or MattC, they are founders of Frankencar Intakes. DMB (Steve) dynoed his new inake on his 2k2 and gained 10hp & 5lbs. Very impressive for just an intake.

I've got a stock 4th gen, and I installed an OEM panel replacement filter from K&N. I got it from Autozone for about $40. I could definitely tell that the engine was breathing better. I would say that it felt faster too, but that's just a seat-of-the-pants observation. Import Tuner dyno'd a '00 5th gen and made 4 or 5hp fwhp with it. It's a good deal if you're on a budget like me. But if you can afford it, definitely go with one of those Franken intakes.
