Which ski rack is best for a Max ???

Any idea on what best ski racks to fit a 2k1? And what about a roof top box?

ive always used yakima for racks. check out their site for prices and part numbers of what you will need. im not sure nissan has one or not but all the info you need is on yakima.com. i know thule makes boxes for the top, but ive never seen one on a max before.

I have Yakima system with 3 "LockJaw" bike attachments. Product works very well on Maxima. Thule is also very good. You can't go wrong with either one. I suggest looking at both.

ive never used the top mounted bike rack, but as far as the box goes, i would go with thule, (past experience on another vehicle). id say check out their website. the only racks ive had were ski racks, so the top mounted bike racks i wouldnt know. call a local bike shop or ski shop depending on what you want it for and get a quote for everything. make sure they include all the hardware and mounting pieces in the price.

A bike rack is gonna run you about ~200 for the rails, hardware and wind faring. You can add accessories for the types of equipment you are using. I have a Yakima and it works great, haven't installed on my 2000 yet.

Yakima clips go OVER the rubber-seal. I have not experienced any paint chips from the rack.

try the saris system. they're center adjustable from one side and a set of clips is only $20 to go from car to car. very easy to use, very practical system, very strong, and very flexible.
as for the bike mounts/cargo boxes, they're pretty much the same quality for all the big rack manufacturers. what you're looking for is ease of daily use. saris definitely has my business.

Thank's. I choose Thule (I will buy it today) as the rack. Still undecided about the box. Thule has one that's silver (could match with my Sterling Mist 2k1...).

Question for those who own a top box:

Is 12 cuft. enough ? Do I need to go for a bigger one (like 14 or 16)?

We are a small family (wife + 1 kid) and we ski every weekend. Not much luggage, but.... "Nature (and wife) has a tendancy to fill any void"...

I bought the Thule rack. Fits perfectly (there's even marks under the rubber door gasket, 2 small bumps for each locations). I'm still hesitating between Thule and Yakima top box...
