Ok, now I'm not exactly sure about this, but I'm pretty sure. I just had an alarm installed in my Max this past weekend. After you take off the Windows/door locks controls, and take off the little seal around the door handle, you should be able to just pull outward on the door. The installer started popping off the door panel at the bottom of the door.

you need to pry the bottom off the door. there are clips that attached to the panel and the door shell holding it on. Once those are loose, you just pull straight up.
All you need to do is loosen one and you will see how easy it is to get all the rest of them free. Easy stuff! Take a flat head screwdriver and put it in between the panel and door shell. Pry up. Or if you plan on removing it often, go to autozone (or similar store) and get a door panel removal tool.

I had the same problem, for some reason that thing just sticks like glue unless you use the tool.
I cut myself trying to pry it up. Did the screwdriver tip as well to no avail. I must've been doing it wrong.
However when the pro installer did it i didn't hear any popping sound and he took it off pretty easily. Must've been using the tool.

Buy the panel removal tool - it is well worth the few bucks that it costs. It looks like a screwdriver with a large flat angled blade with a slot in the middle. It will pop the clips right out without damaging the cover. When you use a screwdriver, you chance damaging the panel. I wrapped the blade of the tool with masking tape to prevent metal to metal contact when sliding it between the panel and the metal of the door.

there are blue compression (at least that is what i call them) that are attached to the door panel itself. These clips then slide into holes in the door skin that hold it on from rattling. Once you figure out where they are and release the first one, it will take you all of 2 minutes to remove the panels. Easy.
