i doubt it, you would probably end up tearing up your entire dash. That stuff is put on at the factory and probably with some contact cement of some kind.

The wood isnt real wood. It's plastic. The trim piece itself is molded out of wood colored plastic. The best bet is to paint over the wood, or replace it with black trim. Then you can apply a kit over it.

Doing it this way gives you a terrible look. makes the new dash kit sit that much higher. Do whatever you can to get the old kit off, even if you damage the dash, you're covering it again anyway. Try some glue or adhesive remover under it and a puddy knife or something.

Dude, he has a GLE. It does not have a stick on wood kit. The actual dash is molded out of wood colored plastic.

You can paint it silver like I did mine. See my homepage.

As for "the new dash kit sit that much higher" if you paint it black, and then stick a kit on, the kit will be sitting up only the thickness of the paint...so not that much higher.

In closing you cant pry the wood off of a GLE dash. The wood IS the dash.

I have a GLE interior and put the Carbon directly over the wood. It is noticable, but not very...one out of 5 people say something.

Now that you mentioned that, I can see the wood in your picture. Why not just pull off the wooden kit and buy a new one? You could always sell the old one. Is every kit just a glue on on top of your current?

"Dude", I know he has a GLE. My mother just turned in her 98 GLE that had wood dash, and it was stick on, just like the aftermarket dash kits we buy, and she got it that way from the factory. Just because he has a GLE does not mean that the dash is made of wood. It is possible to take it off. And when I said it would be sitting higher, the new kit would be sitting high because the OLD kit is under it. Painting it might work, but why not take the old off. tifosiv122 put the kit over the old one and may not be THAT noticable, but if you're **** about your Max, it will drive you nuts.
