Console Molding and Dash material Substandard

The material used for console and dash is not holding up. I have an 09 Max, and 08 Altima Coupe. Both have console and dashbord splitting. Both cars are well taken care of. Other than splitting, the interiors are prefect. Anyone else have an issue with this (especially in hot climates like Florida)?

I don't, but I do recall a user purchasing a used Max where the center console top looked like absolute s**t with cracks and whatnot and another user posting a link where they could replace it on the cheap. Sorry to hear, though.

I use a sunshade.... the heat is terrible in Fl and i was driving today on hot days you can just feel the heat radiating from the dash.. these dashes are really not designed for FL. I might start applying the meguiar cream to the dash.. If you look around at all the old altimas their dashes are holding up pretty well. So I would say no they are not cracking.

Damn, it's so moist up here I need to pick the mushrooms before applying moss remover to my dash and console!

I always mount rain guards on all four side windows after buying a car, then leave all four windows cracked around three inches when parking the car in the sun.

With the premium package on my '09, I also get a power rear sunshade, which I keep up the warmer half of the year. I turn the rear toward the sun, knowing the sunshade will protect much of the rear seats and parcel shelf, and that means the dash is pointed away from the sun.

A car parked in full sun with the windows closed can easily reach over 150 degrees inside, and that will just about fry an egg.

I do the same thing, crack the windows a little bit, put the rear power sunshade up as well as the sunshade for the windshield. The heat killed one of my tweeters a little while ago, luckily Hertz replaced it under warranty. The temperature was over 100 degrees & I forgot to do the things I just mentioned. Now when I park in the sun I make sure I do all of the above. It makes a big difference in lowering the temp in the car.

Is your car garage kept of always outside?

I have an 09 and the dash still looks like it did off the factory floor.

My '09 dash is also pristeen, but then I am retired, and my car is usually in my garage. That makes a huge difference. The sun can be very brutal on anything.

Like you, I will be interested in where 1996blackmax, zoemayne and Radsil09 keep their Maximas.

My car is outside in parking lots either at work or home. I always park in the shade at the office and I crack the rear windows if its not going to rain. I have 5% tintS<- and a sunshade. The way I park and the use of the sunshade my car does not hit 100 degrees that often. I apply meguiar to all of the seats about once a month.
