2002 Maxima 1/4 mile times!!

Might be trading the GT for a new 2002 Maxima for the wife. Already have the engine specs on this thing. Just curious on 1/4 mile times on a 6-speed and auto.

WOW, 14.4 on the auto....I can get that to 13's in one night.

I know 3 (THREE) automatic 2k2 customers that will be 13 sec Maximas by the weekend.

Maybe I can talk one of the owners into some quick time trials at HRP in the next few weeks?

cant prove the 14.4 but the 14.7 for an auto is correct not to say he is lying but i havent seen the slip for 14.4-14.6 auto just the 14.7.... be nice to know if i am mistaken!!! let me know but as for a 6 speed a can vouch for the 14.3 stock!!! i havent proven it on the track but its FAST!!!

VB mod. Don, i dont mean this as an arguementative statement in anyway: but how will your mod allow the auto to surpass a manual transmission?....
your mod + computer shifting instead of a human = best possible acceleration?

coming from an auto that had the vb mod not from DON but from levelten i would never go back...... even if it was 1 sec faster than any human could shift..... autos r no where near as fun as a 5 speed much less a 6 speed..... u couldnt pay me to buy an auto 2k2 reasonably...... and this is coming from a person who has learned how to drive a manual tranny in the past week...... MANUAL TRANS IS WHERE ITS AT..... if u dont care about doing what u want in your car like picking gears and tellin the car what to do instead of flooring it and lettin the car do what it wants than ur an auto guy.... but any car enthusiest will tell u its much more fun to drive a MANUAL TRANS!!! sorry auto guys but u have no clue of what your missing!!!

i know what i'm missing, i love driving my friend's 5 sp. 330ci, there's nothing like getting to pick each gear's rev--i'm really not an auto guy, i just don't have the luxury of free hands to shift, maybe one day that'll change--i'm looking very forward to test driving the HLSD 6sp.

It just took me about 2-2.5 hours to make it what is usually a 30 minute trip. *Lots and lots of traffic* There is no way in He!! that I would have wanted to be in a stick during all of this stopping and going. With my automatic I could mostly just let it idle and it would keep pace with traffic. I know that you can do this in a stick as well, but I did have to put on the brakes and slow down or stop plenty of times. The pains of a manual transmission in traffic outweigh the fun you can have on open roads IMO.

My first new car was a 1981 Honda Accord (5-speed) and I had after that many cars which were always manual (I loved my Prelude!!). But I have now an auto Max... cause of the wife..

When you'll have a few more weeks of experience with a manual tranny, you can begin to think that you have the right to tell me what it is driving a stick.. but I think that in the meantime, I prefer to rely on my own experience

People w/ auto Max do know what's the difference. It's sometimes a deliberate choice....because of the necessity of life...

Enjoy your Max as well as mine, brother!!!

I was there. I have the slip at home, as I was in the other lane. 14.4 with just a generic cone intake. 1/4 tank of gas and full interior/spare/stuff.

Get a grip! I drove 5 spd for the last 11 yrs, much of that in bogged-down commuter traffic. Wore out several clutches and a couple of left legs. Maybe some day when I don't have to commute to work and can spend my days enjoying twisty roads, I'll go back to stick. For now, it's AUTO all the way! To each his own...
