Found a Maxima. Priced too high or not?

I've been on the search for a good shape Maxima in pearl white or silver, and I came across one. It's a 2013 SV with the Sport Package. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have the premium package, I believe those have NAV if I'm correct. Anyways, it has the rear back up cam and display, heated and cooled driver seat, and Bose stereo from what I can see. The car has 19,500 miles on it, and the dealer wants $27,000 for it. By the time TTL is added, it'll probably be close to $30K, which is about $6K more than I want to spend. Wish it had more miles to have a lower price.

What do you all think would be a good price on this car before TTL? I'm going to see if I can get it for $24,000 out the door, that's being hopeful.

I don't think you'll talk them down much I think it's a pretty good price. If u can get it for 25500 out the door with an extended warranty to 100k then u should take it like a thief in the night.
It's a hot car get it man!

Seems like a really good deal considering options and mileage compared to new. I would absolutely try for more. Use your trade in if you have one to get an extra 1k or get them to include extended warranty and/or oil changes. That's what I did. Good luck. Nice wheel, body paint combo.

$27K is way too much for that vehicle. Seven months ago, when I was shopping for a new or used Maxima, you could have gotten a new 2013 sport/tech at that price.

Dealers price their new and used vehicles high because they want a high ceiling to work from and you never know someone may actually pay that high price. If they feel they can sell it for that price they will not cave in easily. You on the other hand want to start at a very low ceiling. Offer them $23K and slowly work your way to $24K. $24K is a very reasonable offer for that car.

The dealer may act as if $23K is an insult, I would just laugh. I see a lot of used Maxima's on dealer lots so it's not like it's a rare commodity. Your patience will be rewarded.

I understand you are looking at used but check out this thread to see what constitutes a good deal. A lot of these posters got great deals but many of them overpaid.

Interesting....it's a Sport, and not a Premium. What I don't get is how it got the climate controlled driver seat (thought that was a Premium only option)? Someone add it after the fact? It definitely does not have the Nav or tech package.

For another reference point in your decision making, I got my 2011 SV Premium/Tech fully loaded with 27k miles for $25k as a certified used. Personally, I'd keep looking as there is probably better deals to be have if you can wait.

Climate controlled seat is standard in premium and sport package. SV sport and premium are two different packages you have to choose one or the other. There is no such thing as a sport with premium package. Sport needs to have the tech package to have the Nav. I have sport/tech that includes cooled drivers seat and the Nav.

Seems priced to high to me. I got my '10 with 30k miles for 20k in december. 24 seems about right. Carmax doesnt even charge 27 for such a maxima. $27 is a few grand shy of getting a brand new maxima.

Yeah, I know about the one or the other, but wasn't so sure about the climate seat. Thanks for clearing that up.

They didn't come down too much on the car. When finacing they want to finagle the numbers to make you think your getting a good deal. I hate dealing with dealerships.

I looked the car over with a fine tooth comb because I'm really particular when buying a car. There were some noticeable sized rock chips on the front bumper and hood. I know used cars aren't going to be perfect, but for a year old car with less than 20K miles it seemed kind of excessive. From what you all seen, does the paint chip and scratch easily on the Maximas?

I have been trying to research the Maximas as much as I can, and I came across a thread where some people complained about rusting above the chrome piece on trunk under the Nissan emblem.

https://maxima.org/forums/album.php?...ictureid=25625

I looked on this Maxima, and sure enough it had a tiny sign of surface rust forming in the same spot, but not nearly as bad as in the link above. The average person wouldn't notice it, but I used to do professional level detailing and notice imperfections. I looked at other used Maximas on the lot, and they had hairline deep scratches in the same location. I'm guessing that during the assembly process they are getting scratched when putting on the chrome strip. I'm hoping I can lightly sand the surface rust and use touch up and be safe. It still makes me REALLY nervous though. I don't want to have to have a repaint or deal with rust on a year old car.

I really love the look, style, and power of this Maxima. It's gorgeous. But it's more than I was planning on spending, but I doubt I'm going to find a SV Sport that is Nissan Certified for under $25K

After I left the Nissan dealer, I passed by a Ford dealer and saw a used 2012 Acura TL Advance Package on the lot and decided to stop by. It's $27K with 20K miles. I know, I know, don't burn me at the stake but the TL was another car I was looking at too. This car was flawless, not a chip or scratch on it. While the TL is nice looking, the Maxima is sportier and better looking IMO. It does have NAV on it (Maxima doesn't), and the dealer has a lifetime power train warranty on the car. When it comes to sound system, I'm sure the Maxima has it beat since it has the Bose.

I'm going to look at and drive the TL tomorrow. I hope I end up hating it, so it will be an easy decision to get the Maxima lol. But I'm buying something that offers the most bang for the buck, plus a car that will have good resale in a few years when I trade off. Decisions, decision, I hate car shopping.

Nah man, don't hate car shopping. Have fun with it. I love my maxima, but still wish I would've spent more time test driving. Test drive like crazy and have your fun because all of that fun ends as soon as you say "I do". I guess I shouldn't say it ends, maybe just that it turns into a different kind of fun. It pays to be sure before you settle down with one woman...err...car.

For real though, I like TL's if they have the SH-AWD, they're worth comparing against the max. And don't worry about nav--my maxima has it and I never use it. Smartphone all the way for me.

I cleaned up the thread and removed all references. Let this be a lesson to all of us to consider what we type and realize that some comments, even if they are not meant to be offensive, can be. Good rule of thumb. Think once before you speak, think twice before you send email and think 3 times before you post on a forum or facebook!

I found another dealer that has 2014 Maxima SVs with the value package for $10,000 off. So before TTL they're almost $26K. I won't get the nice looking sport package wheels, but it'll still have the Bose and rear can display. If Nissan is still doing 0% financing, I'd probably be foolish to pass this up.

I would definitely go new... No miles, longer runway on the warranty, no questions about the history of the car, better resale, ...

This same dealer has another SV with just the SV package only for a little over $1k less. The others had the value package and illuminated door sills. What is the difference between the Bose and standard stereo? Is the Bose a lot better? I live in the south so I can deal without heated seats and wheel.

I have not heard the standard stereo but I bet the Bose is much better. Than again with the money you save you can probably have something better than the Bose installed. If you don't care about heated seats maybe you should look at the S model and save a bunch more. No leather, but the cloth seats are very nice looking. Main reason I bought SV sport was for the heated seats. Need them up north.

I don't have the Bose stereo, but I haven't been in a Maxima with the Bose stereo equipped. I'm very happy with the sound, but without knowing what car you previously came from, you may be impressed or disappointed. For me, I am very impressed with the sound, but you cannot adjust the Mids on the stereo, only the Bass and Treble. Consider riding in both, and ask to play some music on your phone. A little trick that I have found is to find a song that has a ton of bass and play it (loudly), you can find the rattling parts inside the car.

I have a Chevy Malibu with 4 blown speakers and a factory stereo, it's terrible. I told myself my next car was going to have the luxuries I've never had before. The Bose seemed OK, but I didn't crank it up much. I was much more focused on the car. I'll probably go with the Bose because I'm not going to add an aftermarket system to it. Plus it might help resale some. I never checked the range adjustments, but I'll have to do that. Good idea on playing music with bass, I test it out on my phone.

To be honest I didn't mess with the radio much at all. I wish I would have now.

Does the rear camera radio, without NAV, have Bluetooth? That's kind of important since I use my phone for music. I have an Android, and I don't have a ipod or ipad to plug into the USB in the console.

Also, the salesman said that a DVD player could be plugged into the AUX input jacks in the console and play on the screen? Is this true for non NAV Maximas?

We're on the same playing field then! Came from a 2009 Buick LaCrosse, also 4-speaker system with factory stereo. Blah. Didn't even have an AUX-input but I found a way to retrofit it tapping it into the XM receiver box. There's a thread somewhere on the Internet, so if you still have the car (and plan to keep it), take a look!

The Maximas equipped with the color screen radio do not have an AUX-input, they have a RCA jack in the center console along with a USB cable. The Maximas with the amber screen color ONLY have an AUX-input on the face of the radio. Many retailers will sell a RCA to 3.5 mm, and very cheaply. You can find some on Monoprice for half the price of box stores.

All Maximas come with Bluetooth. However, I believe only the navigation equipped models will have Bluetooth music streaming capabilities. Regardless, you can also find a Bluetooth receiver (find one that is apt-X enabled) to receive the highest quality Bluetooth connection if you go this route.

Also, don't be pressured into thinking you're kicking tires. Go through the car buying purchase thoroughly and don't be pressured, you're going to spend a majority of your time in the car for the next couple of years. And last but not least, you're the one holding the money not the salesman.

My Malibu doesn't have an AUX either and the CD player doesn't work. I've been getting by with an AUX to FM transmitter. This car is going as soon as I get a Maxima, it's completely worn out with over 150K miles.

Thanks on the heads up for the RCA to AUX cable, I'll have to pick up one of those.

So basically, I'll only be able to make calls with the Bluetooth on the non Nav color screen?

Yeah the salesmen have been trying to put the pressure on me into buying right now. I have been weighing all my options. The sale only lasts another week, but I don't want to wait and have all the Maximas I like end up selling. I have to make a decision in the next few days. I have always paid cash for cars in the past, so I am kind of hating the idea of having a car payment. Oh well, it's time I have a nice and luxurious car for once.

I believe that is correct; only if the car has the Tech package which comes with Navigation does Bluetooth music streaming work. Kind of getting mixed results on the forum about the Tech package coming with AUX and USB instead of RCA and USB, but nonetheless, your question should be answered. Just make a thorough run through the whole car's features before you pull the trigger!

If there is a good number of Nissan dealers in your area I won't worry about the sale ending or the car I want not being available. Take your time, plenty of Maxima's out there.

Honestly I think that's way overpriced. I bought my 2012 SV with Sport package, leather seats, Bose system, and back up camera for $19,900. Out the door it came out to about $22k. The car had 38k miles on it when I bought it. It drives great. I got it inspected by my mechanic and everything checked out. I say keep looking as $27k for a used 2013 is not worth it. I'm sure you can find a 2012 at around 30k miles for around $20k with a similar package to the one I mentioned above. Just be patient and keep looking. Don't settle for these rip off deals. At 20k miles for a 2013 with it's current packages...the most it should be priced at is $24k.

I'm not buying it. I can get a '14 SV for $26K brand new, and that's what I plan on getting. I'm trying to find one in pearl white.

Can anyone tell me if I could plug in a portable DVD player into the 3 aux jacks in the console and play video through the non NAV 7" display? Or is it just the NAV equipped cars that have video playback? This is on a SV with the value package only and 7" display radio.
