So I just installed my BRM 3" exhaust on Saturday and I noticed Saturday night the exhaust fumes smelled like coolant. I did a oil change at the same time and found no milky color in the oil at all. Also, I am not getting any smoke out of the tailpipe. I also changed the front valve cover gasket when I did the exhaust.


Any ideas? Is this just some weird smell the new exhaust is making?

 

have you been monitoring your coolant levels lately to notice a loss?

 

look for a leak in your radiator.

 

Some stainless steel exhausts are coated with a light coat of oil so you may smell that burning off.

 

Yes it is SS so that could be it. I also got a new main cat, but I don't know if they smell weird to begin with

I visually inspected the radiator and all of the coolant lines and did not see a leak, also it does not smell like coolant in the engine bay, just the exhaust fumes

 

Its the oil coating on the SS piping. It will go away within the week.
