Trannie funny when cold
When it's cold out, for the first 10 minutes I drive my car, if I need to floor it, I hit the gass and the car does not downshift for like a good 4-5 seconds. This is at any speed. Sometimes the tranny almost feels like it's slipping.
I rarely floor it while cold, as I know this is a bad thing, but maybe someone could let me know if this lag/slipping is normal on a cold tranny, or if I need to have it looked at.
Once the car warms up, it doesn't seem to be there at all.
Please let me know, because I'm pretty worried about it.
Oh yeah, it's automagic.

I have the same problem with my 96 se auto...not QUITE as long to downshift (more like 1-2 seconds), but it is noticeable. It tends to go away after a while but I still notice a slight lag sometimes even when the car is warmed up and I try and punch it. I just _assumed_ it was normal.
Cleaning my throttle body seemed to help it a little, though it was probably all in my head because I couldn't figure out why that would affect my transmission
I never noticed the lag on my friend's 98 SE when I punched it. I attributed it to a lesser worn tranny and cleaner intake system but that's just a really haphazard guess on my part.
Anyone know if there's anyway to get rid of that lag without rebuilding the tranny?

take a poll and you'll see that a lot of people have this tranny problem when its cold in the morning. I certainly do. At first, I thought it was a bad tranny but i've been driving on it for over 3 years and it has been the same. Hasn't got worse or better. I just take it easy in the morning and the tranny gets smooth again when warmed up
