Replaced alternator,car is more responsive?

On my previous 98 maxima I remember when my alternator was replaced under a recall, my car felt much peppier afterwords. What did it
maybe the old ALT had a bad regulator so all the circuits weren't getting quite the right voltage, some ground connections cleaned. Who knows, but it was definitely something.
