Preludes are fast?
Preludes are fast?
Hey, I was racing the older version prelude on the highway we both started off at 40. The thing is it was a tie. After about 110 I cut it off because there was traffic. I have a 97 5spd. Wasn't sure if the plude was a v-tec or not, can you max experts tell me why I DID NOT WIN?

No, he had nothing on his car, dam 56k, it's so SLOW
Preludes are faster than you think. One surprised me on the highway, too. If it was 0-60, I would have left him, but on the highway, the prelude is in VTEC zone. So, it's tough up there.

Don't you remember:
VQ30DE = God's gift to engines; superior in every way
F20C = buzzy, anti-torque
And since the Prelude motor was improved upon by the release of the F20C:
Maxima wins because it's just superior to the Hon-duh
Despite the reality that it isn't true.
Raced lined up with 5spd 94 Prelude Vtec
It will be some time this weekend. He has exhaust work, but no intake. Should be interesting. We will try from a stop, and on top end. I will let everyone know how it turns out.

THE FACT IS HE HAD A PLUDE AND HE KEPT UP WITH ME
I can't stand it oh yeah but later in then night took out a lexus sc300. Those lex's look sweet but it was no match for me, it was fun though.
The older version Prelude(VTEC)is actually faster than the current one. Both Preludes(VTEC)and Integra GSRs have pretty good highway pull. I did better when I raced them on the street. It's pretty even now that I'm no longer SC.

That is correct. For some reason I had B22A on the brain, but knew that wasn't right. I was too lazy to search, so I worded my post to make me appear the least ignorant, unlike what you normally see.....

When he said "older generation" I was thinking the 88-91 boxy style. He needs to clarify what one he is talking about.
88-91 had B20A and B21As in the top model, making 140-145 hp depending on year.
92-96 had F22A(S-130-140hp), H23A (Si-160hp), and H22A (VTEC-190hp)
97+ are all H22A VTEC

I was a 5 speed Que-Lude owner before I baught my max. Loved that car, it was pretty fast. Best part was the suspension. That car handled like it was on rails! 4 wheel double wishbone suspension. SWEET!
I was going to say that as well..>The older versions with the lights on the side are very quick stock...they are faster than the new ones hands down...So if he was 5speed with the VTEC was turnin on the highway...I am not surprised

The kid that was driving the lude was crazy! When I cut off he was weaving through traffic at 110!
Hmmm, I once met a Prelude on the highway, decided to go an play with him. He did everything to get away, including jumping in the shoulder lane to pass. Reeeediculous. I left him alone, wasn't worth that kind of craziness.

Dude, if the Prelude was a VTEC, it's got 190 hp same as you. Lighter car, better gearing. Maximas aren't all that fast, just keep that in mind. You talk as if you own the road or something. Next time we'll see a post, "I can't believe that Ferrari beat me!!".

I have always thought of preludes as weak cars, I am sorry but I don't go and research cars all day long. And if you(shadow) know how to read the question I repeat shadow just for you, you might have some reading problems was ARE PRELUDES FAST? Next time think before you write anything.

I can read just fine. And maybe you're the one who should think before posting, your ignorance is just too painfully obvious. Your arrogance has been apparent throughout this thread too, and I pointed that out. You did ask whether or not they were fast. But in your post, you asked why you didn't win. If you had lost to a Civic or a Daihatsu, then your post would have made more sense. You said this "THE FACT IS HE HAD A PLUDE AND HE KEPT UP WITH ME" and that's the only reason I even posted. Your attitude is the same as those who think the Maxima is god's gift to the automotive world.

Actually you can't read, if you look right below my name it says NEWBIE and that's what I am, and if you all write all these posts that you can take out audi's and bmw's then don't you think that would give me the idea of a maxima as a fast and competitive sedan. Read this carefully now shadow.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Raced lined up with 5spd 94 Prelude Vtec
Just because you're a newbie doesn't excuse ignorance. Sorry if I came across as harsh, I'm just a little jaded when it comes to people's expectations of the car. And I really don't believe most of those people who claim to beat BMW's and Audi's either. And I do the same thing to them. I've got more invested in my Maxima than 99% of the people here, but I'm a lot more realistic than most of them, so when I see people thinking the Maxima is the greatest car, etc. I get a little annoyed. I try to keep people's expectatins for the car real, and sometimes that comes across as mean. So let's just drop this because it's pointless to argue. And stop acting like I can't read. The only reason I posted was because I read your post carefully and decided to respond.

I am SORRY shadow. It takes the BIGGER man to say SORRY, so please FORGIVE me.
BMW and Audi really arent that fast. Most of the 3 series the maxima could take with the exception of maybe the newer 330ci or 330xi. As for Audi's the 1.8T cars arent really much competition, maybe the newer 180hp 1.8T, but the older ones arent much competition, a Maxima will easily take any 2.8. The only Audi that really is any competition to a Maxima would be probably the 2.7T Audi's and they arent really all that fast either, a well driven 5spd Maxima could take a 2.7T Audi A6. Although the S4 is totally different story, maybe a modded 5spd vs a stock S4 and maybe the maxima will come out on top, but otherwise i dont think so.
Maxima is a great car, 5spd form, runs high 14s stock and with mods can reach low 14s with a good driver. Compare that to most other cars in its class and we have a winner.
Those Preludes are quick once they are up to speed. You shouldn't be too surprised that it kept up. Highway racing is nothing like quarter mile racing. From a dead stop the 5spd max should easily win if driven properly, but once they are moving the maxima doesn't have the launch advantage so it should run pretty even considering u guys both have similar HP numbers. Don't be too upset, do what i do whenever i feel bad about not winning, go get another mod i.e. YPipe.
peace

No sense in arguing, the Prelude was modded most likely, thats it. I've taken out preludes with my stock automatic, but its a close race. They're pretty fast to begin with.

ive raced a Lude VTEC before, it was 5spd and i have auto, i took teh launch and kept about 2-3 car lead until like 60mph then the gap began closing and by 90 he was walking me, by 100 he was at my front bumper and still pulling away. tahts the only reason i question your claim about beating a VTEC Lude. I havent raced an auto VTEC Lude so if thats what u raced then im pretty sure its possible.
only the VTECs are fast
test drove a non VTEC when was looking for my car, that thing was a dog. My friend had a 1993 VTEC with headers, intake, exhaust and a suspension kit, man that was fast. Really cool too, when rpms reached 4-5k rpm it was like the car was launching all over again. Then a week later he drove under the baseball fence at my old high school and had to sell it. God that was funny. And leave the newbies alone, you make maxima not as awesome to me with your realism, i aint got no friends just a car i revere as muy awesome.
My max feels really slow...probably for two reasons (at least)
1. I don't know how to drive it properly...when to shift, how to shift
2. I am at 5000 ft above sea level
Anyone have solutions? ...other than move to sea-level?
