Vibration in steering wheel, also when rolling windows down, AC on, etc

I have 50,000 miles or so on my 2012 and I have been complaining to the dealer since the beginning that it felt like there was too much vibration at idle.

For instance, when coming to a stop at a red light and you can feel the RPMs vibrating the wheel. It is always worse if the AC is on or when rolling down the windows.

They claim it's normal. To me, if I was buying this car used, I would assume there is something wrong. I have not driven any other 7th Gen maximas to know for sure.

It's really annoying to drive a $35,000 car and feel all that vibration. I mentioned it before my 36,000 miles was up and they said if it was an engine issue I had until 60,000. I have a feeling that they will now say otherwise. On the other hand, my dealer has been pretty good.

So- do yours have a lot of vibration at idle? You can feel it in the rest of the car, not just the steering wheel.

Thanks!
Dom

No vibration in my car at any speed regardless of the aux equipment running. Go drive another to compare.

No vibration here either. Only vibration I get is if I drive with the sunroof open at 80 mph, then I get buffeting from the air that hurts my ears and shakes my rear view mirror. A wind deflector might help, but I read that it doesn't do much a difference on our cars. I just close it when I reach those speeds, and it saves me gas.

It's not a vibration at high speeds, its fine then.

Its more an idle issue. Like stopping at a red light and feeling vibration in the seats and steering wheel from the motor or something.

What is the RPM at idle?

dtortor1 I have as 2010 SV with 77k miles on it and I noticed the vibration at idle ever since I bought the car at 33k miles. Lately, though I notice it more when I back my car into my garage which sits on a small hill.

I have a manual garage door so I have to stop on the incline and when I put the car in park I can really feel it in the steering wheel.

Just a few days ago I noticed it and found that I had my a/c on too, I turned the steering wheel and the vibration lessened some. I at first looked for things wrong but when I found nothing I concluded that it was my a/c compressor and I've basically gotten used to it.

I know I'll get some debate over this but when I used regular gas one time the car shuddered and idled like stupid. What type of gas are you using? If your using regular, switch to premium for a bit and see if that solves your issue

No need to go premium. Midgrade (89 octane) works wonderfully well in all Maximas, and costs 20 cents less per gallon than premium around where I live. I can easily afford premium, but, with anything close to normal driving, the car will perform the same with midgrade as it does with premium.

Funny, I never noticed vibration in the steering wheel until I read this thread. I was stopped at a light and felt vibration in the steering wheel. I don't think there is anything wrong with my car so I expect some vibration may be normal.

Mine actually gets worse when I turn the wheel left or right with the AC on. It hasn't gotten worse and I've had the car since new. But it is annoying. Seems like it should be buttery smooth!

I notice this too, it almost feels like the car wants to die sometimes. It idles at about 500-600rpms.. More so of course if the heat and ac are on. Makes me think the alternator isn't putting out enough amps, I'm going to get it tested next week.

This is a good point ive noticed very very slight vibration at idle a few weeks ago but its not nearly as severe as some of you have it if the car is still under warrantee the dealer shouldn't be giving you the run around.

That's exactly what it feels like. In fact, it has almost died before creeping up a hill. Some people have said it may be bad motor mounts making it vibrate but its only when drawing a lot of power from the alternator.

Quick easy fix could be to add a ground to the alt. or do the big 3 upgrade. Its cheap and worth a try

All my Maximas have had the slight vibration when the RPM's fluctuate.
