Lowering Springs and maxima model

Hi, Im hoping someone can clarify something for me. Im looking to purchase a 7th gen and would like to know if it makes a difference to buy an S, SV or SV with sport package, when it comes to lowering the car?
Maybe what Im really asking is, does the sport package make a big difference in the way the car handles and drives compared to one without the package?
Thanks for any insight.

If you plan on lowering, any model will do. They're all the same, with the exception being that the sport pkg gives you slightly stiffer springs and better sway bars. So, you'd be replacing the springs, and I'd recommend upgrading the rear sway bar (no matter which model) as well.

I agree with the above opinion. IMO it makes sense to find a premium model if you are going to mod the suspension anyway unless you want the 19" sport wheels.

Along these same lines and not thread jacking in any way, ive been meaning to ask this for a while. 1. Can we keep the factory 19's and lower the max, and 2. I had a buddy who back in the day just cut the stock springs down. Anyone else hear of doing this?

+1

My car is a sv sport/tech and with the mods made on the car, in retrospect I wish I went with premium

You probably want to avoid the glass roof and fold down seats if you really care about handling.

Yes, you can lower the car with the stock 19's on. In fact, I know of someone who had 22 inch rims and had eibach springs on his car with no issues (although I wouldn't advise it).

As for cutting your springs, yes you can so it but I'd highly advise against it. Prices have come down and technology has improved greatly over the last 10-15 years. Additionally I am sure your ride quality would be crap as your springs were designed with a specific number of coils. The maxima is still in some regards a luxury sporty sedan so I'd suggest getting actual lowering springs designed for your car.

I didn't see MaximaDrvr's post a few post above this one until now but yeah, I guess a simple NO. NO. NO. will suffice lol

Thanks for the info Serpent and thanks to the others who commented.
So to sum it up, if Im going to lower the car the model purchase isnt significant. The model would mainly apply to some interior/exterior features. When things come together I will look for springs and rear sway bar (Thanks again Serpent). What about an upper strut tower bar?

For the front, it is a complete waste, and purely aesthetic.
One is not made for the rear on these vehicles that I have seen.

Like maximadrvr said, the front strut tower brace is not going to do anything for you in the way that the springs or rear sway bar will. I've never had the fstb, so I can't speak from experience there. But others have said that they can't tell any difference with or without it.

What do you mean freed up the suspension? Is your car lowered?

Yes I put the springs on a couple weeks ago and I just got the endlinks...the steering wheel turns with alot less force im assuming its due to the links being alot more flexible and u can adjust out the preload on the swaybar..the car feels alot more stable during cornering..

I have a 2014 sv sport, with eibachs, h&r 20mm/25mm spacers, stillen rear sway, stillen fstb, and the front camber bolts and rear camber arms. Stock 19s. The car sits perfectly IMO, and the speed I can take corners is just insane.

If planning to lower or eibachs are the front camber bolts necessary in order to have everything in the green? If so, did you get them along with the rear arms from stillen?
