Nissan restores 4th gen Maxima!!

I'm completely geeked out, it's the same color as my 96 and I still have the insurance card in case I want to track it down and restore it, I loved my 4th gen, great cars. This was really cool of Nissan to do and just awesome.

instead of them restoring this one max, why did'nt they just recall all the 4th gens with lower rads rusting out?? maybe then they would'nt have to restore 1 lousy max.

Wow, they are restoring cars that a ton of them are still on the road and aren't really real old considering how well Nissans where being made then...sorta cool (just wonder why they did not put the original 96 SE or GLE rims on it). I must say that leap into the VQ in 95 was light years ahead of the old VG and even the vs the VE, it felt so fast in the automatic vs the older automatics for then!

Of all of the Maxima's I have driven/had from 1st to 7th, my 97 SE handled the best!

4th gen along with the 3rd, the Max was getting great recognition from all of the pubs (4th gen M/T Import of yr in 95 etc)....Winning all kind of awards and comparo's . Since with each succeeding Gen that has not been the case unfortunately!

Too bad they put 5th gen wheels on it.

The 4th gens really are great cars though. Ive driven a friends 97 5 Spd and despite not having quite as much power, it felt smoother (and maybe slightly better built) then my 5th gen.

This video makes me really proud of my own '96 GLE

Mine isn't in as good a shape as the restored one, obviously, but it is in way better shape than the one they bought and restored. I am 100% confident in mine; if someone told me I had to drive it from Northern California to Denver this January, I would do so in complete confidence that I'd make it.

Really, "pride" is the word I'm looking for here. I kind of wonder if these things aren't now approaching minor-collectible status. Sure, it's not a 1996 911, but it is something more than a 1996 Dodge.

The A32 is a long lasting vehicle. Especially if you're the original owner like myself!

I think it's great that Nissan has a sense of humor. I can't think of any other car company that would follow through with something like this.

Now that is cool. Now they just need to remake our cars for 2016. These cars are bulletproof. The motor they used is one of the best motors ever. These cars get better fuel mileage then alot of other cars today and this generation is 14 to 19 years old.

^^ It's all cool and all but I'm not a fan of the whole thing anymore as much as I was when it first was happening..

They bought the car and rewarded that guy only because he was a film student or something, and made a cool commercial. It's all marketing and advertising for Nissan thru this, it's not really just a cool thing for them to do...

Otherwise, his car was a POS that was never taken care of, nothing to be proud about. Plenty of 4th gens on the road still, that look as good as that restored one.

I would be WAY happier, had they taken a true enthusiast car...3rd gen would probably be best and most iconic, and really restored that thing...But it would be a car that needed to be restored despite having been taken care of perfectly...Not some film making douche with a POS car that he couldn't care less for...

My .02 gentlemens, sorry if this came off negative (really not trying to be)

I think it is a very wise Public Relations move here. Sure, there are more viable candidates for a restoration, but Nissan seized the day on this one. They did not plan on the car in this Craigslist ad, but simply capitalized on it.

It is difficult to put a value on such marketing strategy, but I think it was money well spent.

they can do my car next, i've done everything in my power to keep maxy alive and running and i'm getting tired of pouring money into her. that would be an accomplishment indeed.

I would have to agree, well said.

That's what I was saying, I wish the car itself was a different car not just them seizing the opportunity just cuz some dude who's into film made a cool commercial making fun of all the things wrong with his POS Maxima...

it would be cool if they would go back to the A32 setup for the 8th gen and "bring it back" like didge did with the charger/challenger etc...
