New Owner Mod Bug already got me

Hello All,

I am a proud owner of a 2012 Maxima and the 1st thing i want to change is the Light Bulbs. I went ahead and ordered 6k HID lights, My question is can i replace the bulb with out removing the whole bumper?? I use to have a G35 and to replace the HID all i did was jack it up and turn the tire and do it from the wheel well. Can i do the same here???

Thanks in advance.

For some reason Nissan thought it would be SOOOOO Hilarious to make us remove half of the front of the car to replace the bulbs. Whatever happen to just reaching behind the headlights and popping out some bulbs :/

Its really not as bad as it sounds. My three biggest things: have a carpet underneath so you dont scratch the bottom, the headlights are secured by 4 bolts. And watch the tabs and bracket attached to the top of the headlights. Its worth it to replace the hids on this cat honestly.

There is much to mod on this car. Ive been an owner for about 6 months now and I've already had my headlights out twice, bumper off twice. Dash ripped apart and now working on my trunk and kick plates lol.

More than likely then you have the halogen. Be careful however because the halogen bulbs are different than the stock hids. This is critical. Check when you turn them on now if they start off a nice blue then fade to white, or they just look yellow. Another way to tell is look for a ballast connected to the bottom of the headlight housing.

You DO NOT have to remove the bumper to replace the bulbs.
Just Jack up car
Remove wheels
Loosen plastic fender liner
Pry liner back carefully
Replace bulb

It's a completely ****ed up system, but it can be worked around.

Removing the bumper is ridiculous!

We werent saying that you MUST remove the bumper, just owners choice really. Ive done both ways and prefer the bumper method due to ease and lack or arm room through the fender well. It takes just as much as far as timewise, but completely up to the individual. I agree though, we need a reach behind system lol. Not metal bars in the way.

It would be too much like right for manufacturers to makr these modern vehicles more DIY friendly, but no fret, as u can see the more difficult they make it, the more saavy we become. Speaking of HID, i have stock HID and want to swap my fogs for 8k... HMMMM
