Oil drain plug washer? DIY'ers holla at me
Oil drain plug washer? DIY'ers holla at me
Normally I take my car to the dealer bc with coupon the price is the same as what I could get oil for.....buuuut not this time.
I have doing changes for years but this would be first time in the Max. Is there a washer for the drain plug I should be aware of? I go back to my BMW days where that thing was included with the filter so I am trained to naturally desire it when I change oil.
Does anyone know the size washer I could get when I go buy oil? 1/2 or 3/8?

It's the same as your frontier. It's listed on my receipt from the dealership and its $2
I use these...one every two or three oil changes depending on the amount of "crush" left. No leak, no fuss.

My 4th gen used the same copper washer for 200k with no leaks..well..not from there anyways.
I don't see that as being much of a wear item.
Only time I replace copper washers is on brakes for safety.

I used the same washer for a long time as well on my 4th & 5th gens. I now get my oil changes done at a mechanics shop I've been going to for years, same washer I believe, no issues.
It (the copper) has been exposed to water/minerals...usually over a period of time, pretty normal in very wet/salty/humid areas. At least you can be sure you are not leaking any oil!
Seriously, this will be the last time you have to unbolt anything to do an oil change.
