Aftermarket amp to stock headunit and speakers???

Has anyone done this. I realize its not ideal, but I have no desire at this point to swap headunits and with more power and tuning the stock speakers should be fine. Wondering if there is a specific harness I could use to run the speakers off a aftermarket amplifier.

I have two amps installed on the stock head unit.
A JL audio runs the doors speakers and an Alpine runs a subwoofer box.
All work was done by a car audio specialist.
The system sounds fantastic!

He's talking about an aftermarket amp that can go between his HU & speakers, in place of the OEM amp.... via an aftermarket wiring harness. At least that's what I gathered from the post.

teddyca, what model maxima do you have?

In my model the HU feeds four channels into the stock amp (FL, FR, RL, RR). From there, the amp splits the signal amongst all the speakers. You could do something about adding an amp after the Bose amp....then feeding more power to the front speakers. That would not be too difficult. You would need a four channel amp that accepts high level inputs for that.

they bypassed the Bose amplifiers in my car and installed an amp between the stock HU and the speakers.
They connected the aftermarket amp onto the low level HU outputs for door speakers.
The sub amp is fed from the stock low level sub connection at the rear of the car.

I bypassed the Bose amp as well. Feeding the signal from the front outputs on the HU into the DSP. I have a three way speaker set up in the front....midbass, midrange, & tweeter.

He wants to keep the OEM drivers though.

Thanks everyone. I have a S without nav. Pretty confident the BLOSE system is not in my car. The plan is simply to tap prior to the amp and run a 4 channel to the front and rear stage. I did this in my Altima with the stock speakers and hu and was content. if I need to add more later I Will. Thanks everyone for the info
