Recheck your VIN numbers for the recall!

FYI:

I called Nissan the other day for help getting the Nissan Connect remote start function to work (another story), and they told me my vehicle was indeed on the recall list for the gas line issue.

I had been assured by the dealer that mine was not on the list when I bought it on 7/21. Turns out mine was ADDED to the list on 7/30, so the dealer was not wrong.

I assume I would have been notified of this down the road, but since it is an issue related to NOT BURNING TO DEATH in an accident, I'd just as soon have the problem fixed ASAP.

So, I'd suggest everyone double check their VIN's against the recall list via their dealer.

Just checked my VIN and sure enough it looks like I'm in the same situation. I too specifically asked the dealer before buying the car in Sept, and they said mine wasnt affected. I then checked myself after buying to confirm, and no recalls. Strange that all of a sudden it's now showing up. My first oil change is around the corner, so I'll have this fixed then. Appreciate the heads up.

Let them know in advance because they will probably have to order the parts. It includes a new fuel tank.

Bought in late July. First one sold at my dealer.

Utterly love it! The fix for this issue is pretty simple, and the car got all 5-star safety test ratings.

You're welcome. Glad to help everyone stay safe.

I wonder if they decided to put the fix on all of them... just in case?

I don't think it includes a whole new fuel tank, rather some sort of reinforcement on a connection in the fuel line.

My dealership told me that they had replaced the entire tank on my car.

My fuel tank was replaced. See the recall thread for a list of all the parts involved.

Upon making an appointment for my first service I was informed that my car will have the recall correction done at the same time. I was told that it would take an hour to do it.It appears at this time no notifications are being made.

I posted this yesterday in the other Recall thread. I think the Recall issue is important enough to keep at the top of the page, if possible.

I've had my 2016 Maxima since July 20th. I was originally told that it was not on the recall list. In fact, I checked the VIN # myself on the NHTSA website. I've put about 3800 miles on the car.

I just received an e-mail from NHTSA telling me that my car is now being recalled. I called Nissan Customer Service and they confirmed it is now on recall. I called my dealer to set up an appointment.

The dealer said that the part(s) is vehicle specific (?) based on the VIN #and they needed to order it. They could not give me an estimate of when they would be receiving the part. They did confirm that the repair should only take an hour or so.

This whole process has been sort of weird IMHO.

I had the recall service done for the gas tank today. Can anyone who has had the service done confirm or not if there was a strong smell of gasoline after leaving the service center? My garage wreaks of the smell I left it outside for a few hours, tried washing the quarter panel near the gas cap without results. The car was also washed before giving it to me [ a first for me ]. There are no signs of an exterior leak.

I had no gas smell after they replaced my gas tank. Remember, there are two separate gas tank recalls. I was part of the first one. The expanded one does not include a new gas tank. Mine was due to a Quality Assurance issue on vehicles built during a short time period and I'm thinking the second one is more of a less serious design issue that does not include replacing the whole gas tank.

I just went in to get my headlight unit replaced due to moisture on the inside. Service had told me that my car is on the 2nd recall in regards to a gas tank. The gas pump is sitting too low and they have to place a spacer under the gas pump to raise it which means they will still have to access the gas tank. A little concern about the access part but hopefully they'll do a good job.
