Anyone know what's going on with the paint? Just had body work done because of an accident, its been over a month of having the car back and I'm noticing that i have "burn marks" so to speak from stuff like bird **** that wasn't even on there that long, Never had this issue before, any ideas?? if you look at the pics zoomed in you can see what I mean
Some bird droppings are very caustic especially on new paint that has not been sealed with layers of wax. How about taking a couple more pictures without the reflection, its pretty hard to tell anything.

That or eggs, not kidding. My old car was egged (don't ask) and i wasn't home for a few days to clean it off. I could never fully remove the stain the eggs left regardless of what polish/wax I tried...
This is the reason I can't have A new car, I park on the streets and had A crack in my bumper from one of the trucks from the factory next door, my back bumper had to be redone also from the great parking skills of people, side of the car also from the great people getting out of thier cars and cabs swinging the doors and not caring or looking.
thanks guys, I will try and get better pics and post. i to stop by a body shop anyway for other things so ill have them look too. So annoying being i just had like $3000 worth of work done (covered by insurance) and now this. I, like a lot of you, am so picky over he car being perfect
I can't be sure from the pictures, but I had a somewhat similar issue after some body work on my 09 after a raccoon committed suicide. Most body shops have transitioned to latex paint and my tech said that PPG had some issues early on and redid the work on their dime. So is this a paint issue, bird droppings or prep issue? Can't be sure from the pictures but certainly a question for the body shop folks.
1 month is the earliest my techs advised to wax after paint job and wouldn't let me wash for two weeks.
I just stopped by a reputable place by my house and they said the people that did the paint job used bad clear coat or just did a bad job overall, there are already permanent spots on the cars only where they painted, it looks horrible
I will be calling tomorrow to complain, this is just a small shot of the hood with the permanent marks, but pretty much this is all over the doors, hood and bumper
they are taking it in hopefully monday, I had to reschedule, They are definitely repainting it, they looked at it last week and said it looks like a bad reaction to something that might have been bad in the mixture. They felt bad and wanted to take it in right away for 4/5 days to repaint
Time to take it to a different shop on their nickel, if they will agree, but it shows that they are not competent and the expertise is not in their paint shop.
I am meeting them again tomorrow, i will see how this goes, I'm so pissed over this. i feel this will never get resolved without it costing me thousands now
If the insurance company paid for the work I would think they would want to know about your satisfaction of the work regardless if the shop was not on their preferred list. When I got my car repaired I was requested to fill out a satisfaction survey of the insurance company and the repair shop.
Geico said there is nothing they can do being I used my own shop
Went to my shop today, the obviously feel bad and are redoing all the work again on their dime and paying for my rental so we shall see. they feel its the brand they may be using is have a bad reaction to a chemical or something on the car. we shall see
Yeah dude, everything is see on your car is ****ty prep work done to the primer coat and the base coat. It almost seems they didn't use a degreaser to clean your primer before putting the base coat on.
If you are getting your car back from the paint shop over the weekend then you will have problems with your paint. You have to give time for your paint to cure (Primer, base and Clear coat) before moving on to the next process. Why??? Well, when you spray a primer it will shrink and swell until it gets to a point when it stops doing that called "Curing time", this process goes for the base coat and the clear coat too. This is why seem shops will NOT sand your clear coat of the first month or so after a paint job depending on the weather.
It seems like the two big blotches you see are from a filler they used and didn't go good prep work on it so it seems. Sorry to hear about your problem. I hope it get resolved soon.
