So I just bought the sr model but was disappointed to find out it doesn't have the remote start and unlock using your smartphone. Does anyone know if this can be added as a dealer installed ad on?

No great loss. From what I've heard, it doesn't work anyway. They couldn't even figure out why Nissan Connect wouldn't connect to my Android at all. I can't even use Google "Send to Car" for navigation like I could with my Altima.

 

It does work - you just have to follow the set-up process...

 

yeah I was able to set mine up no problem. I set a speed alert for 30mph when my wife was driving it and forwarded her the message lol..another toy to play with..the remote start may come in handy when the weather turns. found out it was exclusive to the Platinum after the fact. the question is when will we get apps thru Uconnect? that was a big let down for me after the salesman gave me the impression I could use any music app on my phone in the car..

 

Honestly, sounds like a solution looking for a problem.

 

As far as I know, the only app the works with the nissan connect interface is Pandora, with that said, you can still play music through the car speakers with any music app on your phone.

My salesman also told me that my car had nissan services and it does not, I was upset at first but when I realized I can start my car from anywhere inside my house, I stopped caring.

 

I haven't been able to get any app to download to my car...only one I have is the Google one.

 

If you plan to upgrade to Android M. will break this app. There is an open ticket from Google to Nissan and I've opened 2 as well and even included what needs to be fixed. Seems their software people are not super fast so word of warning.

As far as the Nissan Connect Apps only Google Online Search works right now. Again very slow development related to this part of the platform.

 

And if you have an iOS device it needs to be connected with both Bluetooth and an Apple approved USB cable for the Google Search to work.

 

Dang you're right, I have other apps on my phone but only google shows up on nissan connect. I never tried to use it honestly so I never checked.

 

You can't drive and enter text into navi or voice search very well. The Google one does a fairly good job while the car is in motion. Could be better of course.

 

Yeah I've noticed that, very annoying, I get why they do it though. You can google search an address and input it into the navi while in motion?

 

You can voice search while the car is moving but not input text.
