how to remove EGR valve

I have a 97 Maxima automatic I need to clean the EGR valve.
Do I need to remove the manifold to get access to the EGR and pipe???

Most of the how to do somethings are in the stickies at the top of the page. how to......

using the search feature is helpful as well.

No, the manifold can stay on. a hacksaw will be needed to cut through a bolt.

I cleaned my pipe and sensor using this link:

https://maxima.org/forums/4th-genera...ing-p0400.html

Unfortunately, my code p0400 was not fixed after cleaning both parts becuase the previous owner had replaced both parts and were fairly clean already.

So researched on the forum and decided to replace the EGRC vacuum solenoid. after doing so, my code went away after clearing it.

Hope this helps, also when taking off the iacv, throttle body, and maf. Clean them with with the correct solvents, if you haven't already to help smooth out your idle. Make sure to clean the intake manifold entrance when the throttle body is off as well as the areas where the egr tube connects.
