Trying to decide on a 99 SE 5spd

I looked at a Sterling Mist SE 5spd yesterday for my dad. He's looking to replace his 93 Altima GXE with a newer car. I came across this car in an ad and I test drove it yesterday.
The Dealership was asking $11,995 for it, but there were a few minor things that I questioned. It needs new brake rotors because they pulsate when you step on them. Also there are a few dings that I would have them remove. Otherwise, the car looks and drives new. Options include: Leather, CD/Cassette and Moon roof. Other than the dents, the car is in excellent cosmetic condition. The engine runs smooth and quiet and the clutch catches well.

I figured that it was a good deal for the year and condition. Only thing is, it has 118,500 miles I talked to my dad and he was willing to buy it regardless of the mileage since it was all highway. I checked kbb.com and valued the car at 14,570. I nego'd with the salesman the price and got it down to $10,500 to take it home.

Good deal?

Good deal?
The number $10,500 sounds like a good deal so far, especially if they fix the dings. Putting new rotors on it will cost you under $200 if you do it yourself. But it all depends on what you do with the Altima. If you're trading it they may try to screw you and play games on the trading price so the 10.5 number may not end up being such a good deal because you paid too much in "cash" and didn't get enough in trade.

I guess the bottom line is does your Dad think it's a good deal and will he be happy with the car if he pays "$10,500" for it?

Sounds like a good deal to me if they're going to fix the brakes and the dents. plus if it was actually highway miles, sounds like a keeper

Just wondering, what area are we talking about here?

Those are the numbers I looked at too. Like I said earlier, $10,500 is a great deal as long as you don't screwed on a trade, but a 93 Altima probably isn't worth that much anyway so it should work out pretty good regardless.

BTW, what dealer was this, if you pass maybe I'll buy the thing

Jump on that deal. Like others said, get it checked out first, and make sure it has a clean title.

My dad is actually selling the Altima to a family member for cheap. So we're not really worried about it. Also, its a Nissan dealer thats selling the maxima. They wont fix the rotors because they are selling the car at a really low price, so I can do it myself for about 80 bucks.

Then that's a sweetheart deal, they must be hurting. If all you have to do is spend 30 minutes to put new rotors on the front, I'd be down there tomorrow

holy smokes

that's a lot of miles for a 99!

The deal sounds pretty good.. I am sure it is all highway. Check it out and look for any little (and big) things that can possibly be wrong.... Sounds good though, sterling mist..mmmmmm
