The steering wheel lock for the 2009 has an extended warranty of 6 years and unlimited miles, so you could still be covered, otherwise it will cost between 700-900 dollars.

Search this forum as there are temporary fixes to this problem. After you get the car running then immediately pull the fuse for this lock and you will never have the problem again.

Does the light go off if you put the key into the key holder? If so it might be a low battery in your key fob.

If there's a little bar under the key that mean the battery in the key is getting low. Just pry it open and replace the battery. Don't touch the battery contacts.

Nissan has issued a recall of this problem for 09 - 10 model years. You should be getting a notice in the mail. The steering wheel lock mechanism is replaced with a different non locking device and there is a feature of this recall that out of pocket expenses you paid to get after warranty work done will be reimbursed so keep your receipts.

I received my letter and made an appointment at the dealership to get it fixed, but first they had to order the part.
