CEL Code 101 Mass Air Flow Sensor
CEL Code 101 Mass Air Flow Sensor
Hello All
I have a 2011 SV with ~68000 miles. For about a year the Check Engine Light goes on and off randomly. I have replaced the MAF sensor at least 3 times under warranty. I have never had the ECU reprogrammed, is that required? How can I get this resolved for good?
Thank you!
Jeff

My 2011 maxima is throwing the P0101 MAF code every couple of months. I haven't had time to take it to the dealer. Normally the SEL goes off on its own after four days of commuting. How long does your SEL stay on for?
If you take it to the dealer let me know how much it costs to reprogram. If it's out of warranty I'm assuming the ECU reprogram will not be free even though there is a TSB.

I might have a loose vacuum hose that may be the root of my problem. I also went back to my paper air filter from a K&N. It sounds like we are having the same issues so I will let you know if either of these things have actually resolved the issue.
Great Service
I called the dealership closest to my office, Stateline Nissan in Kansas City. Asked what it costs to reprogram my ECU, he said 1 hr, $129. He asked what I am experiencing to think it needs reprogrammed and I explained everything above. He suggested we do a full diag instead of going straight to the reflash that way if it doesn't work it is on them. I agreed and made an appointment for later this afternoon. Dropped my car at ~ 10:45 for my 1:30 appointment and went back to work. The service department is open until 8:00pm which I think is awesome. However, I was pissed I hadn't gotten a report with a cost by 5:00pm so i called and left the advisor a message. He called me back about 10 mins later and said he found a TSB that allowed him to fix the issue under warranty. My car has 69000 miles on it! I was expecting to pay $300 - $500 to get an OEM MAF and reprogram. Picked my car up and paid nothing. REALLY HAPPY!

Just FYI it's very simple and easy to take out the MAF housing thing that's attached to the air filter and you can clean it with a MAF cleaner spray. Do not touch the MAF sensor, just spray it while it's still in the housing of that box from both ends, very very easy and simple.
p0101 code
My 11 is having this problem. I changed the air filter and cleaned the mass air sensor with CRC mass air flow cleaner. I drove for 650 miles and it came back on. I didn't get it reprogrammed but I took the negative terminal off. Can someone please help? Trying to avoid paying $500 for a sensor. And if I had to buy 1 is there a legit place I can get 1 from without the code coming back?
