Parking brake cable - do they stretch?

Parking brake cable - do they stretch?

I've adjusted the parking brake on this max several times (brake pads/rotors were done just six months ago). I've now taken up all the adjustment at the handle and it's still not grabbing as hard as I like and has a lot of clicks to pull.

A quick glance and it all looked OK under there but I haven't had it jacked up yet for close inspection.

Do these cables just stretch over time? Or have I got another issue under there?

Yes, they wear out over time.
If adjusting won't do it, then it's time for replacement.

Dang... another job to do

Is it better to have the exhaust dropped to get to the handle end, or is there room to work on it with the exhaust in place?

It's probably possible to do it with the exhaust still on if you can get that heat shield off.

I already had my y and cat off when I did mine. ~Was doing a few things at once, so idk if it's possible with the exhaust there firsthand.

Is the connection & shield I would need to remove above the cat? Or is it above the rear muffler/pipe?

You don't need to drop the CAT to remove it's heat shield. If you are doing it anyways then these are the 4 nuts & bolts you'll need for the CAT

What do you mean by what size for the rest? Connect the catback to the cat, or connect the individual catback pieces to each other? If to the cat, then 12x1.25 nuts, if the rest of the exhaust, and it has regular drilled flanges then it doesn't matter what size.

Yeah... I have to do the rear pipe and muffler anyway, so I'm thinking I'll just drop the cat refresh the bolts/nuts, and do it all at the same time. No sense being back under there again.

12mm? That sounds WAY big. That's wheel stud size. I guess I'll get in there and see how it all looks. If the stock studs are good, I'll just refresh the nuts.

The CAT bolts are huge. If you're CAT and y-pipe have never been dropped then removing those exhaust nuts n bolts will be a headache. When I installed a warpseed y-pipe 7 years ago the OEM y-pipe and CAT were melted together. I had to grind them off then drill out the rusted bolts.

With all my new exhaust from the headers back I used antiseize compound on new SS nuts n bolts. Don't forget to use new gaskets.
