Long Time Reader, 1st time owner...

What up. Just jumped on a 200k green 97 that took a driver side QP hit for $320. Already started switching out a bunch of things, and I'm sure I'll be doing a lot more once I finish my other projects(another Nissan and a ZX7). What problems should I be looking out for seeing that there's 200K on the engine?

Depends on what damage was caused by the QP hit and the maintenance of the car. My 4th gen has close to 269k miles and the main maintenance it requires is regular oil changes

search man, there's gotta be a billion threads to answer that and other questions you might have. every car is different, depending on previous owner care.

One thing to check for is a leaking high pressure power steering hose. It drips on the lca bushings and rots them out. Most notable symptom is that when you are driving along and floor it, the car pulls to the side and straightens out when you let off the gas.

And the power steering uses Dexron III auto trans oil.

pretty good dent, can't bolt up the rear bumper to the QP, but the rest of it lines up well enough for now. Definitely doing a full fluid change just to be sure of when things were done.

I wonder why that oil in particular...I'll need to search on that. Speaking of searching...

There's not quite a BILLION threads, but there's quite a bit I've already read that have helped me figure out some quirks with this car. I have no idea what the previous owners did, so I'm just going to be sure to do things right while I have her.

Water pumps seem to last about 200 k miles. If it has not been done yet, it might need to be done soon.

Leaking fuel injectors and various sensors might be issues.

The engine it's self is a great design . Some of us have over 300k or more.
