Car died yesterday, now squeals on startup
I was driving yesterday and my car gradually died out, it was running hot and I removed the oil cap on the engine and a small bit of smoke was coming out. While waiting for a tow, I let it cool down and every time I tried to start it it sounded closer and closer to working, then this morning it cranked but it was making a loud squealing noise and the engine was shaking bad, usually it only does this when it's cold. I read it could be the fan belt, but could it be something else?
These cars don't have a fan belt so I'm going to guess it's not that.
Your best bet is to lift the hood and have someone crank it while you listen for the sound. It sounds like there may be a few issues at the same time.

similar problem
Not an expert by any means... I had a similar problem... I had a bad alternator and apparently the bearings inside would get stuck and the belt would spin around the pulley causing the squeal. Replaced the alt. and haven't had any shaking or squealing since. Hope that helps.
The squeal could be the serpentine (fan) belt that runs the alternator and air conditioner compressor. While the a bearing in the alternator or air conditioning compressor could also squeal, bearings usually don't stop.
The engine shaking could maybe be a bad fuel injector leaking. Does the exhaust smell like gas?

smoke coming out of when u removed the oil cap,,,,better check your oil level a sign of low or no oil may cause the internal of the engine to lock and burnt main bearings causes squealing sounds,,,hope you didn t burn out that engine
