How do i jump start my car?
How do i jump start my car?
for some reason, my car wont start. i tried and the starter was making the lil starting noises really really slowly. now it just goes "click click click click." i remember starting my sisters integra without another car when hers died. her car was manual. i remember like pushing the car and she sat inside and tried going into first gear while rolling or something and her car started just fine. my memory of this method is really really sketchy, can anyone explain it better or give me some links? thanks

i am assuming your car is a stick, if so try this...
get in your car, turn the key to the "on" position
push the clutch in and put the car in 1st gear
get rolling or go down a hill and pop the clutch and it will start.
i had to do this last month when my starter went out, it was really easy
but if u r an automagic, than u r shlt outta luck

Autozone or most auto stores will check it and your starter for free

this happened to me too today
I drove around for an hour and it's fine now
For jumper cables, you connect:
positive from good battery to positive of dead battery
negative from good battery to a good ground (use the grounding bolts either on top of the intake manifold or on the driver side fender where the negative battery cable grounds to...do not use the strut tower nut...on my car it is not grounded for some reason..prolly due to the strut tower bar).
start car with good battery
start car with bad battery...let idle for a minute or two while revving good car at 2000RPM
disconnect in reverse order

Nope. with a 5 speed, the gears are directly connected. In an auto, it's a fluid coupling, and it's built to only work in one direction, from engine to tranny to wheels, not in reverse, as roll starting would involve.

I've found that you get much better results by using 2nd instead of 1st to bump the engine over. Also, check the water level in your battery and clean the posts before you start it. If you don't, you may not get it to take a charge and you will be doing the "bump start, drive around" process all over again.
