Take the lens out. Remove the bulb from the socket.Take a small flathead srewdriver and pry up on the little black plastic piece while pushing up on the wire in the back(black with the red stripe). This wire is the to work with. The other wire(black) is just a ground and there is no need to mess with it. The wire(black with red stripe)is soldered to the back of the little black plastic piece. Cut this wire off of where it is soldered to,keep up with the spring so you won't forget it. This wire will be spliced to the other connection. I drilled a hole straight through the other side, through the solder and all and I took apart and old fuse holder, the flat sides that look like a nail head this is where the contact point of the bulb will be. Drill a hole big enough in the plastic to slide the wire from the fuse holder through about 18 ga. size. Splice the fuse holder wire with a butt splice to the wire(black with red stripe). Slide everything back into place and you should be set. The bulb should shine brighter than it did in the beginning. All we are doing is lighting up the high side on this dual filament bulb,by swapping contact points in the socket.

There have been plenty of discussipon on rewiring the corner lenses, but on the '99 they changed the wiring. There is only 1 wire so swapping wires is not an option. Anyone know how to do the wiring on a 99?

I have a 1997 what do you mean one wire. There is only one wire a ground that is hooked up on the side then the other wire we are just swapping sides on the contact points where the bulb will rest. Unhook it from one side and hook it to the other like unplugging one cord and plug it into the othersocket beside it.

When I rewired my 97 there was only one wire too. the bulb had two places for the wire to connect to. So I soldered the wire to the other connector.

This is my own thought on how I did mine I got ideas from people but I changed it and I think my idea is better than soldering it.

I did a real quick and cheap way to rewire my corners to run at 22w intead of 5w with hyperwhites. No soldering needed. It had something to do with masking tape and aluminum foil. I just figured out which metal tab on the bulb produces the 5w and which one produces the 22w. I then covered the 5w tab with a small piece of tape and then taped a little piece of foil to run from on top of that tape to the other tab (the 22w one). SO...when you put the bulb back in, the foil redirects the current to the 22w tab. Hard to explain, but if you don't want to solder or you don't have soldering iron, this "ghetto" method is pretty smart.

Uh, read the post again, dude:

YELLOW, as in SIDE MARKER, and not CORNER!

As for how to make THESE lights brighter, I guess you'd have to find a way to replace the socket with one that holds a brighter bulb. Any ideas anyone?
