Bulk hose ID to replace Power Steering Suction Hose

I'm talking about the molded hose that connects the power steering reservoir to the power steering pump. Has anyone replaced it with bulk ATF/PS hose? What inside diameter did you use? I've seen 5/8 mentioned as a possibility.

I've done it before, but the hose ended up getting a kink in it after a while. I replaced it with an OEM Hose and am much happier with it. https://www.nissanpartsdeal.com/part...piping,,49717M

hose

Thanks for the reply!
What ID was the hose though? Was it a heavy duty type of hose, or a thin walled hose?

I couldn't tell ya the size, it was over 5 years ago. They didn't have one that was an exact fit, I had to crank down on the hose clamp to seal it. And the one I used was rated for use in fuel/evap systems.

hose ID

Thanks!
I measured the reservoir spigot diameter at 16.7 mm so a 5/8 hose should work.
If I had the hose off the car I could take it to a part store and try to find a similarly prebent hose that could be trimmed, depending on the skill of the parts dude.

I ended up using this bulk PS return hose I found at Napa. 5/8" was not tight, but at least it was easy to connect to the PS pump in that tight location. I reused the OE clamps, 2 months and 3k miles later all good no leaks. Since it's not molded, I added a piece of split hose to protect it from rubbing the timing cover.
