Question Stumped stalling

My 98 has been shutting off while driving. i ran codes replaced o2 sensor it called for also knock sensor maf sensor isnt bad. had a misfire so replaced the plugs and coils, that went away. felt good after all that then it all came back the next day codes rough idle exhaust drumming. it shut off again started after a few minutes bogged out a little until i got it up to 60 and set cruise control. im totally stumped.

Question...... does your car run fine when cold, yet shut off once it gets warm, but will restart once it cools off?

its weird i just took it out after it sitting for a few hours and drove it about 18 miles and it stalled alot then i set cruise control at 60 and didnt bog out or idle rough or stall, it doesnt do it when its cold and doesnt do it all the time when warm, it starts right back up and sometimes i floor it and it wont idle funny at all then goes down stall a few times and then drives fine after playing with it for a few times, kind of thinking fuel injectors? i replaced the coils one was so used it broke at the neck when i pulled it up

When my ignition coils were bad, I would have bogging issues at lower speeds and none at higher speeds, sometimes it would shut the car completely off when it did.

Fouled ignition coils tend to put faster wear on the Catalytic converters if ignored for a long time, I don't know if that could be the smell your referring to. As it is part of the exhaust system anyways...

Josh, it seems that your cure for any problem is to replace the coils.

Why?????

The Engine Control Temperature Sensor, or ECTS,
tells the ecu how warm the engine is. The computer cause a richer mixture when the engine is cold, and leaner when it is warm.

One common failure symptom is an engine which runs fine when it is cold, but cuts out or runs rough when warm. Sound familiar?

Its not expensive.
