Turn signals don't work unless hazard switch pushed slightly

96 I30

turn signals don't work, but hazard flashers do work.

If I push the hazard switch in slightly, the turn signals will work.

Is this just a bad hazard switch?

Sounds like the hazard switch but could be the flasher relay which is something like $10-12 at an auto store and plugs in under the dash. if it was me I'd try it and return it if that wasn't the case and then try the hazard switch unless you've got access to one you could try

Bad switch.

the one in my 92 Nissan pickup does that too.

I have disassembled switches from other cars.
I cleaned any crud deposits with fine sandpaper, then reassembled. This worked more often than not.

I don't know if it's possible to take our switches apart.

+1 on the switch. The brake lights go through the hazard light switch. It is not the flasher as there is only one flasher that serves the brake lights and hazard flashers.

Please check fuse 14 (7.5A) at Fuse J/B if it is not blown.

(Reference diagram 97 FSM page EL-66. Turn signals are powered by fuse #14 when car key is ON or START. When hazard button is pushed in, turn signals are powered by fuse #11)
