New battery all dash lights good sometimes takes several attempts for key to fire

95 Maxima title pretty much says it all often pulling out key and reinserting fires right up.Cable ends on battery cleaned and are tight.Didnt check ground or starter ends just now warm enough to work comfortably outside.120k on car.

So it re-starts easily if it has not been off long, but is difficult to start after half an hour , or especially over night?

Sounds like the ignition switch needs replacing.
