Navigation & Maps Update only updates the Navigation system

Navigation & Maps Update only updates the Navigation system
i had posted a question in another thread as to whether a maps/navigation update would update any other aspect of the infotainment system. I called both the map update number and Nissan Connect customer service and was told that the maps update do. It update anything other than the maps and navigation. They do not update any other part of the infotainment system.
The rep said they update the maps every 12-18 months and says there could be an update much later in the year.
The map update currently for sale for my 2017 Maxima was released in September 2018 and would contain 3-4 years worth of updates to my current version. My current version says its 2014-2015 and program version 101. The latest update for sale is version 10.5.
Debating to wait 6-8 more months or to update it now.
Anyway I just wanted to post what I found out.

My 2016 had 2013 maps.
Dealer tried to update and bricked the whole system.
Use CarPlay or Android Auto.
(unknown how OTA updates on the 2019 models will play out - it seems newer and there isn't an SD card any longer)
