1999 maxima adjustable suspension and sports mode

Hi all,
Recently got a 4th gen (in Australia it's called the 30gv) whats the "top of the range" model in us?
When getting the car roadworthy I noticed it had electronically adjustable suspension (photo below) wondering I'd anyone has any info on how this is controlled, how can I tell if it's working and what it does? My assumption is that at highway speeds it softens the suspension for a smoother ride? There aren't any controls or dials in the car for suspension.

Also, I noticed there is a "sport" mode light on the dash, for the life of me I can't work out how to turn this on (there isn't a "sport" button anywhere in the car)

Any assistance appreciated (shot of car included for car tax )

Drivers side strut tower and inside of motor (sits on top of suspension and gets clipped in to place )

\"sport" mode light circled

From mid 1998 in New Zealand, we had the same Maxima trim specification as Australia (NZ assembly had finished in 1998 so the interim models prior to the 5th gen Maxima release were the Australian spec'd Japanese assembled 30S.Touring, 30G and 30GV) I had a 1999 30S.Touring, and still have the handbook. This is the section from the book regarding the suspension. My S.Touring wasnt fitted with it, so have no idea how it works. The picture of the switch is a little crude, but should give you an idea what you should be looking for. Looks to be mounted behind the handbrake lever under the centre console lid. On the earlier NZ assembled Maxima SEL, the switch was mounted in the panel between the stereo and ashtray next to the "security" light. The US Maxima doesnt have those 3 plates between the stereo and ashtray like the Australian and NZ Maxima does.

Nice car BTW. Looks like it has been well looked after. The GV's looked good with the leather interior and woodgrain.

Thanks for that! Scoured the fsm, but the car didn't come with the manual. Much appreciated. Here's the twist, checked all over this morning, no switch in either location! Hahaha. The search continues!!

My guess is the switch has been removed. Take the cover off the centre hole where it should be as per the book and see what wiring is lurking inside. I know that other Nissans in NZ had it like the Patrol, and possibly the Pathfinder, so try find a switch from one of them or another Maxima and see what wiring plugs into it. Doubt the switches would be different between the models.

Another thing to try. It's possibly only a 2 position switch so technically should only be a 2 pin plug. Flip the cover off where it should be and look for a 2 pin plug, then put a bit of wire between the 2 terminals and see if the Sport light on the dash illuminates. It's just a theory but it's what I would do.
