As my 95 Maxima has passed the 25 year mark, in another year I will probably have to get another set of tires. I have Michelin Defender 215 60 R15 on now with the original alloy wheels. A good quiet tire but does not perform with a lot of standing water and not good with packed ice and snow. Is there any brand out there that folks recommend with that size. It has been getting harder and harder to find the size. I really do not want to size up and I have a spare 205 60 R 15 which looks pathetic with the SE stance. Any suggestions are appreciated.

 

I have a 1996 which came with the 15 inch sawblade design. The Toyo tires eventually wore out.

I do some research. I found that the 1997 5 spoke wheels take 16 inch tires. The tire diameter is identical to the 15 inch.

They bolt on the same as the 15 inch. No speedo issues.

 

There is still a reasonable selection in the size 215/60-15

You can also get the BFG Radial TA with those white letters

 

Can't go wrong with the General Altimax RT 43's. I run them on my '97 SE great all season tire.

 

You could always use 205/65-15, the selection is still very good.

 

I have a 1995 SE, Canadian model

I took the original tires up to about 60,000 miles and they were over 10 years old.

I don't drive a lot. I replaced them with Yokohama Avid H4S which I thought were very good. At the time it was a toss up between them and BF Goodrich Traction TA based on research I did on I believe it was tirerack.

I replaced them a couple of years ago, not because they were anywhere near worn out, but because after about another 10 or 11 years they were starting to crack.

I bought the BF Goodrich Traction TA on sale and am pleased with them

They are 215s I believe because the car is an SE.

 

My 95 Maxima is an SE. That is why it am sticking with the 215 60 R 15. I will check out the brands and see which one has the best overall. I had Bridgestone before and they were like glue in heavy rain or snow, but they were very noisy.

 

What of my criteria was noise and both brands I have mentioned pass that test.
