Buying a Junker (Yes or No) ???
Hi Friends,
From reading on the forum, i had this idea that 'i could pick up a totaled car' (with either a totaled Engine or Tranny) and rebuilt it CHEAPER than buying one (good to go) 'off the street.'
???
What's your opinion on this?
..is this more 'pie in the sky' thinking, or is it a Reasonable Idea???
I was looking at a 7th Gen Maxima, or something less than 10yrs old.
What do you think?
thanks for your input...

It's like flipping houses. You can find a great deal, realize later that it's a pure money pit, end up paying twice what it's worth to get it going, only to realize when it's said and done, you really weren't prepared to do it right in the first place. Ask experienced car flippers out there, even they will tell you it's hit or miss. Sometimes you make out, sometimes you lose money. The idea is if you do it often enough, the experience you achieve will help you remain profitable more often then not. Being that you're asking a forum here for this kind of advise, I'd guess you lack that experience. Which case I'd say pipedream, you're nutz. If you know how to swap motors, and can get your hands on parts well discounted, then it's a deal. But if you're plan is to pay someone to do the work, again, your going to take a loss.
