I found this listing on eBay for the Continental Elite polycog belt. As you all know, the Maxima has a problem with squeaky noisy belts. The Continental Elite is the ONLY belt that will stay QUIET on these cars. So get your cogged belt now!

Unfortunately, Continental stopped making them last year and replaced them with "OE Technology Series" which is just regular straight rib belts. For that reason, I wanted to notify the org about these leftover stock helicog belts. They used to be called Goodyear Gatorback until Continental bought out Goodyear's belt business.

Huh ... I've owned my '99 since it sat on the dealer show-room floor (20+ years) and have never had any issues related to belt squeal.

Just grabbed one, thanks. I was looking for the gatorback belt when I changed my AC compressor, and I couldn't find it locally. Thank you.

Agreed. These cars are NOT known for belt squealing issues.

My alternator kicked the bucket this week. Got a reman (AC Delco) from RockAuto and installed yesterday. I was going to keep this belt on standby, but figured I may as well install it while I was in there. Everything went well. No squeaks, but then again I didn't really have any squeaking issues before (apart from an intermittent 1/8 of a second chirp immediately upon startup). I haven't heard that chirp since, but then again the chirp could have been attributed to a belt tension issue and not the actual quality of the old belt.

Either way, I feel more comfortable with my GatorBack belt. Worked well on my '95 up until it was totalled. Thanks OP!
