Trade in for Infiniti in Knoxville?
Trade in for Infiniti in Knoxville?
This is a long shot but I am shopping for another Max and I found one that is for sale at an Infiniti dealer in Knoxville. Since the Maxima is listed at the Infiniti dealer, it makes me think the previous owner was a Maxim guy and not just a random driver. I've also checked the Carfax and it's a 1 owner, 162k, and from what I can tell, they did all of their own maintenance outside of the occasional oil change and inspection at the dealership. What do you guys think? TIA
Your magic ball is correct! Would you mind asking it about the CVT so I don't have to drive to Knoxville to check it out? Seriously though, what would indicate that the transmission isn't trashed. Checking the fluid? Thanks.
Yeah so, I found a couple of others that I’m going to check out and I appreciate the feedback. I wasn’t necessarily asking about a specific year or trim level. From what I have read from other Maxima owners on this forum, it seems the general consensus is that an Infiniti, especially a Q50, is an upgrade to the Maxima. So, when I saw this one at an Infiniti dealership, I thought it was possible that it had been traded in by someone who had maintained it. And I wanted to ask on the forum because it seemed the mileage was just on the brink of being too high. I owned a 5th Gen but that was altogether a different animal. Anyway, thanks for the advice and I’ll post an update when I find my Maxima.
The q50 is an upgrade to the maxima in every way. If you can find a deal on a q50,get that. If you can’t find that, then look for a deal on a g37 sedan awd. If you can’t find that, theeeeeeen you look for the maxima.
I love my Maxima (and may dare to say it looks better than a Q50) but definitely agree that the q50 is the better buy.
RWD, 7 speed transmission, elegant interior, more power, to name few things.
One thing for sure stands for the Maxima is the nice knowledge fan community it has.
Q50s are pricier also.

Agreed. The max when done up right looks great. Same goes for the q50. But I’d get the intelligent awd q50. I’m starting to see 2014-2016 3.7 q50 for a decent price. The twin turbo q50s are in the low 20s. Couple more years I’m gonna get one of those bad boys
I definitely love the look of the q50, but unfortunately, for the price, it's just not in the cards right now. I did drive a couple of Maximas yesterday and may be looking at a g37 today, so we'll see. I believe I have seen this mentioned here and maybe you guys could help. I drove one yesterday, a 2011 SV, 139k miles, beautiful car, but it had a chirp to it when I cranked it up. It chirped like a cricket for a few minutes and then quieted down. Then I noticed the chirp again as I was driving. It seemed to come from the left of the engine bay, closest to the passenger side. I'm not asking for internet diagnosis, I just thought I had read some suggestions somewhere on the forums about different things to watch out for when buying these cars. Someone suggested it may just be a pulley bearing, but I have no idea. Thanks again.

Mine did that from time to time and ended being the belt, Make sure to use an OEM belt I had horrible luck with after market belts I would put one in a Napa belt and in like a month it was chirping again, I put in a Gates belt and it chirped after a month, then I put in a belt brand by Bando it chirped after 2 weeks. So I checked the tensioner and that wasn't the problem, I went to Nissan bought the OEM belt put it on and it's been a year and there's no chirping at all!
They are good cars if properly maintained and like cruising speeds and not punch off the line. There is trial and error with the CVT's on them so always be aware of that, but all in all the cars are nice and give an excellent ride imo!
And that seems to be the problem to this point. There are plenty within what I’d like to spend, but some of them have just been beaten. I really have just always enjoyed the comfort of the ride and space of the Maximas.
