2001 Maxima - Front hood stays (Left and Right)

My front hood no longer stays up so I prop it with an old baseball bat. Looking at the OEM parts from nissanpartsdeal.com, they come in at ~$65/each side.

Anybody using cheapr aftermarket stuff here such as these at $15 for the set (left and right)?

Of course, you get what you pay for, but at $130 for OEM I could buy 9 sets of these cheap models.

A couple years ago (I think 4 by now), I had to get some and at the scrap yard it was very easy to find used worknig OEM hood struts, cost about $10 total and still work no problem. I beleive the 02-03 cars use the same ones, so you have more options to see.

Great idea. I also saw these lift support clamps while googling around. For $12 a permanent fix.

I have used Strong Arm brand on 3 of my Maximas and they are great. The last time I bought them, I got them from Lift Support Depot.

I just installed ones last week from rockauto.

How many times does one actually use the hood to determine good or bad struts? Hard to know unless wait for years or its bad at install..

I installed StrongArm hood struts (

) on my 01 Maxima in late 2015. No issues, but I'm not in and out of my hood that much... but sadly have been in there more frequently recently.
