what are the symptoms of loose axel nuts?

 

Google "loose axle nut noise", and describe inspections you have performed.

When the axle nut is loose and the wheel bearing goes bad. The threads will get ruined and make it feel like the axle nut is tight.

Take everything off and tighten again,and check for sounds.

Should take less than 5 minutes.

 

For me, loose axle nut cause a loud clunking noise when near stop condition (around 10km/h) with brake apply, if jacking up the car and shake the wheel it has a lots of freeplay.
